“Piccolo Paradiso”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

Our small family, two sisters, husband and mother, stayed at Melizio for three delightful days in November. They were the last days of our three week trip to italy and, unbeknownst to us, we saved the best for last! Our accommodations could not have been more charming nor our hosts more generous with their time, culinary gifts, knowledge of the area and recommendations for places to venture for delicious food and sights to take in. What a paradise Mela and Maurizio have created. This restored walnut oil mill is a loving triumph from floorboards to vaulted ceilings. This is no hotel, it is a home. The cats, dogs, goat, pony, pig, geese, ducks and sheep who call this place their own, give it all the more charm. We had scrumptious breakfasts, talks by the wood stove, romps in the grass and would gladly have stayed longer. What a gift, Thank you! Grazie Mille! We hope to return someday...

Room Tip: All three rooms are delightful, two have in suite bathrooms.

If you like a babbling brook outside your windows; to enjoy the BEST prima colazione (breakfast) in Northern Italy; friendly and helpful hosts......with an abundance of peace and quiet.....then you will have found a little piece of paradise here at the Melizio B and B. Mela and Maurizio are the sweetest and FUN people you could ever want to meet and it's just a very short distance from Lake Orta. Now, there's some real BEAUTY for you......a pristine lake and short on tourists !!! Maurizio is multi-lingual and as helpful as can be, which is something we really appreciated. They proudly serve locally grown and delicious foods everyday. Believe us.....you can not eat all the incredible dishes placed before you each morning. The location is set off the road, by a stream and boasts the remnants of an original Roman acquaduct !!!! They are very "earth friendly, green" people with some of the most entertaining cats ever seen and 2 of thee most beautiful and friendly German Shepherds that we have ever met. Check out the website for more info on the amenities, rooms etc. You will not be disappointed !!

Myself my husband and two friends spend a wonderful 4 nights at this gem of a B&B. Both Maurizio and his wife, Mela made us feel so welcome. nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was amazingly quaint and the house and grounds were beautiful. Maurizio advised us brilliantly on where to visit and what to see, and Mela's breakfasts were the best. This is a beautifully unspoilt part of the Lakes and if you want to get away from the more popular, larger lakes then this area is for you, and if you go to Lake Orta you must stay at B&B Melizio.
I would have no hesitation staying here again.

We spent two days in B&B Melizio and only regret we didn't stay longer. The rooms were lovely and the garden so pleasant. we felt very welcome, and Maurizio was extremely helpful, giving tips as to where we should go and lending out maps.
Breakfast was unbelievable!!! The best food we had in Italy. Who knew eggs could taste so divine? And home made tiramisu for breakfast.. Wow. It was all so rich we even stayed full for the day.
We really couldn't recommend this place more.

We stayed for a week-end last year and had a wonderful time with our two kids. The house is well located, near a stream which gives a very relaxing sound to ears tired from the city ! The rooms are very nicely decorated and warm, making you feel right at home. This feeling is even greater after meeting your hosts: friendly, ready to answer your questions and very knowledgeable about the area yet never in your way. The perfect mix !
This review would not be complete without mentioning the incredible breakfasts we had: great home cooked food which changed everyday and was very nicely presented.
We enjoyed our stay in Melizio's B&B very much.

Everything was wonderful.
Maurizio received us with great warm and was very helpful. Gave us tips to visit beautiful Lake Orta and the surroundings (he speaks english very well).
The room was beautiful and we had a huge bathroom, as no one else was in B&B, it was like an apartment to us. It was very quiet. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choices, from soya yogurts, to homemade cakes (wonderful made by Mela), cheese, jams..... the best breakfast we had in Italy. we loved everything. Maurizio and Mela treated us very well, like family.

We could not wish for anything better. Initially booked just one night, but stayed two. Mela and Maurizio are fantastic hosts and made every effort for us to feel at home. The rooms are separate from their living quarters and all have private bathroom (ours was outside of our room). Everything is spotlessly clean. Breakfast was amazing, apart from usuals such as fruit, yoghurt and cereals, Mela and Maurizio prepared a plate of local food (cheese and cold cuts) which was delicious. And more homemade biscuits. Did I forget to mention that they baked fresh cake every day too? Heaven. There is beautiful garden with lots of animals. We would definitely recommend this place to everyone and hoping to be back.
