“Alway check to see if your room is en-suite”

This accommodation was booked as my husband and I and our friends had a wedding in the area. I only went onto the website to get directions as I was recommended by another farm some way away and just didn't think it was necessary to check accommodation. I cannot comment on food as our stay was cut short because there was one bathroom to be shared by two couples. I did state to Hilary Weston on arrival that she had not told me there was only one bathroom but she stated that she had told me. Under no circumstances did she tell me as my husband has ulcerative colitis and no way would he share a toilet. If we had known we would never had booked it in the first place. I have learnt a valuable lesson always check accommodation unless you don't mind sharing. I also feel for the money the Weston's were charging was a bit steep. We were very lucky to find another hotel for our two night stay.

Management Response
Apr 24, 2014
We remain fully committed to ensuring our guests have an exceptionally enjoyable experience with us and are proud of our growing reputation for excellence of facilities and service. We are unstinting in our attempt to relate to all our guests and potential guests with the utmost integrity, friendliness and hospitality.

As stated on our website, we will never book out our two rooms together at the same time except to guests of the same party who agree to share it. We guarantee a private bathroom to every guest unless they are staying with party of friends or family and are willing to share. In this case, I not only informed the guest on the telephone that booking the two rooms together would involve sharing a bathroom, I also directed her to our website so she could see the accommodation for herself, together with directions and other information. In this case, the guests appeared to change their minds about where they wished to stay for other reasons entirely. Sadly, the person booking with us was perhaps mistaken as to what had been agreed. It is also unfortunate that the guest omitted any mention of the courtesy extended to her party in our pre-arrival communication, the welcome on arrival and our immediate offer of assistance in helping find alternative accommodation.

Accordingly, and with regret, this incident has forced us to introduce a policy of not accepting any telephone bookings, lest there be any doubt in a guest’s mind as to what was in fact booked.

“Very Comfortable”
Reviewed September 22, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Hillary and Carey were the best of hosts. Our breakfast were always of our choosing with the highest quality and freshness. We also chose to have supper each night and again the very best. I would highly recommend this lovely B&B and would return again. Hillary was also very helpful in recommending points of interest in the area. Idyllic setting, close to the major cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, with a wonderful country feeling and complete relaxation.

“Absolutely Amazing!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

I wish I could give the Weston Farmhouse six stars, because it was THAT wonderful. We were far from the ideal guests - we arrived late in the evening (thanks to bad traffic on the way down from Scrabster) and had to be up early to catch a flight out of Edinburgh. Hilary and Carey were nothing but gracious and helpful and made us feel so completely welcome. Our room (the green room) was lovely with a gorgeous view of the hillside out the window. We even got to pet their totally sweet border collie Tess and their super friendly cat - we wish we had had the time to take Tess on a walk through the countryside as we had planned, if we hadn't been so late!

In the morning we were in a bit of a panic because our car was running on fumes (did I mention the horrible traffic trying to get there?) and we had no idea where the nearest petrol station was or if we could make it to Edinburgh Airport on what we had. Hilary and Carey helped us figure out that the station in Biggar opened at 7 and gave us very clear directions to get us there. We made it to the station, put in about five pounds worth, and hightailed it to the airport. We made it to our flight just as the last of the line to embark was passing through the gate! If it wasn't for Hilary and Carey and their immense patience and helpfulness we never would have made it. I'm sure they were completely exhausted after waiting up for us to get there and then getting up really early (it is a working farm, after all!) but they were still completely hospitable and wonderful.

If you're looking for an idyllic setting, close to the major cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh but with very much a country feel, the Weston Farm B&B is for you. We're already planning our next trip to Scotland for a few years from now, and this time we will stay at the Weston Farmhouse for multiple days! Thank you so much Hilary and Carey (and apologies that this took a few months to finally write)!

“Fantastic B&B”
Reviewed August 5, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

A wonderful location. Lovely home produce to eat and Hilary and Carey are excellent hosts. Would recommend it without hesitation to anyone! Be sure to print off the directions - it is easy to find as there is a sign to Weston Farm at the entrance but the sat nav will try and take you up another drive as this is the official centre of the postcode! “Homely and charming”
Reviewed August 2, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Location was perfect for us though it is quite remote. It's a working farm but what a homely place to stay. The landlady - Hilary - couldn't have been more accommodating. Rooms were clean & comfortable and if you like books the farmhouse has an extensive collection. Finally, I have to mention the food - fantastic home cooking with organic meat straight from the field. Excellent value for money.

“Charming”
Reviewed July 19, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We had stayed at Weston Farm 3 years ago and were so completely blown away by its rural and rustic charm that we had to return. We didn't think the b&b could get any better but Hilary and Carey have done a wonderful job of turning a stay into a real experience. It's a taste of the good life! We followed all of our hosts' suggestions and had the perfect country getaway, including a long walk around the farm (shepherded by two of their friendly dogs), a visit to some historical sites, a local whisky bar, and more cream teas than we ought to have indulged in. On top of that, Hilary's breakfasts, lunches, and dinners were delicious and expertly prepared - better than most restaurants we've eaten in - mostly made with locally sourced ingredients (beef and eggs from their own farm) and all offered over excellent company. The rooms themselves are beautifully decorated with sinkably comfortable beds and views that we still dream of. We can't wait to return to this idyll.

“A real taste of Scotland”

An hour away by car from the Glasgow airport sits Weston Farm, Dunsyre, where we stayed with friends from June 2-6, 2013. Don’t let the hour drive scare you away from what will be a really unique experience. Weston Farm is a working farm, all 900 acres, with animals of all kinds, and a house that is the real thing, with character. The bedrooms are large and the views from the bedrooms are spectacular. There is a sitting room with a fireplace which was a wonderful place to relax, talk, and have a whisky (Scotch for my American friends) after a day long trip suggested by our hosts. One will be surprised to learn how centrally located this pastoral setting is to both the large cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as other points of interest. Go if you must to the larger cities but if you miss staying at Weston Farm, you have missed a real taste of Scotland.
