Once again we trotted off to Brown Sugar although I still find my self calling it Bay Views. Brown Sugar sounds like a coffee shop which this place is not.
The food is always satisfying and the prices are about what you would expect to pay for a slightly upmarket type of place. Drinks too are about average price and you can choose a wine priced anywhere from around twenty five dollars or so.
The one thing that does annoy me is the ability of the staff to make you feel a bit stupid when you make a comment about the food. How many times do you need to be asked , "How is your meal this evening. Is everything OK?. Oh good". The last bit usually uttered without waiting for your reply." On our recent visit, my partner had the duck. It was quite pink in the centre which wouldn't bother me so much but hey, I wasn't eating it. When asked the usual question my partner informed the waiter that she was dissapointed that she could not eat all of the duck. The outside looked nice and crispy but it really was very pink inside. The guy looked her straight in the eye and said, "but that's how it is supposed to be cooked. I'll take it to the kitchen and have it cooked a bit more if you like." My parnter just went red and I could see she was really embarrased. I butted in and ordered coffee and explained that we had now finished our meal.
The guy brought the coffees and told us they would be complimentary. Fair enough. It might be a while before we get over the embarrassment before we return though.
