Sometimes I think I use too many superlatives in my reviews (Happy Traveller ;-) ), but this was such a great experience. You can cuddle lion cubs (it was too hot in the afternoon, so they were a little grumpy) and play with young lions (several months old), but also walk with adult lions. The staff took us out (9 of us) with 2 young adult lions and threw and placed chicken around so we could observe them. An absolutely enjoyable and informative time.

There are also tigers and other cats and the guides explained the differences in their behaviour brilliantly.

Thank You

We were fortunately to hear about Ukutula on the last day of our trip. We had a late flight, so we signed up for the full package to keep us busy during the day. It turned out to be the perfect way to end a long, first trip in Africa. You get loads of time to play with the lion cubs, and there are a lot of cubs to play with! You really can take about as long as you want, no one hustles you around or sticks you with strict time limits. The morning walk with the 1-2 year old lions was fun and relaxed, and we were definitely impressed with some of their acrobatics as they went for the food they were being given. They also have 2 tigers you can touch, should they come to the fence. As of this writing, they also have a baby caracal you can hold, and a couple adults that will let you pet them as well.

While we didn't lodge there, the grounds were well kept and clean, and the accommodation appeared to be reasonably well appointed from what we could see.

Definitely worth a visit!

Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend break. Well organised interaction programmes. Excellent facilities and very welcoming staff. Could not fault it.

Really amazing place where you can cuddle lion cubs (15 days old) and play with young lions (several months old), but also walk with adult lions.
The people there are so kind, the rooms are nice, the food is good and above all you can stay with the cubs as long as you want !
It was the best experience of my life with "tamed" animals in a place where you really feel animals are really loved and people really care for them.
We already miss Ukutula !

This place enables you to interact closely with lion cubs, whilst maintaining security and satisfaction of the animals. They are an ethical breeder of lions and I had no doubts whilst there that they act only in the best interest of the animals and support wildlife research. You can interact with lions up to 9 months old (although keep an eye on small children!) and the lion walk is one of the most fantastic things I have ever done! I have so many amazing pictures from my time spent at Ukutula and cannot wait to visit again! Credit to the staff too who work so hard and are all fantastic!
