This is a very quiet pension with restaurant, the staff was great and the meals excellent, a very good selection of wines and good beer. There are nice hikes in all directions, I definitely can recommend this place.

We spent 5 nights in this amazing Penzion and we really enjoyed it. The area has a relaxing atmosphere and it's also a good starting point for a various excursions around Jesenik.
Penzion was quiet, clear and staff were very friendly and helpfull - nothing wasn't problem. They gave us a good advice or types for our trips.
Cuisine was delicious - daily for a breakfast was a freshly baked home-made cake and of course other food. Restaurant in this Penzion has a great choice of food and everything was really delicious for example blueberry dumplings or green salad with dressing of Dijon mustard with baguette baked goat cheese.
Room was comfortable, clean and enough place. Only tiny problem was a weak wifi signal in our room (10).

Our friends recommended us this penzion because there is nice accomodation and super cuisine. It was true. We spent there 4 nights and it was perfect. The rooms are big enough even for a travel bed for baby and the staff was very helpfull to sterilise the bottles for baby or to advise us where to go for walk with trolley. I just regret that the restaurant close after 8 pm.

We spent 8 nights in Penzion Kovarna during harsh winter at the break of January and February. We are amateur country skiers and this a place to go if you need a good base for exploration of Jeseniky mountains. The owner - Mr Sekula - is a person who takes care of the nearby cross country tracks and one of the trails starts just in front of the Penzion. And there's a separate room at the Kovarna, where you can leave your skis and boots for drying.

Our room (no 7) was quite large, but with oblique walls, that can make life a bit harder for tall persons. The same for the bathroom. Room looks good, plenty of space in wardrobe to pack your clothes. Comfortable bed, no problems with central heating during freezing nights. Our bathroom (no window) was bit dim, some additional light would be a good idea. Small table is quite handy for keeping your food and drinks. Breakfasts included in price of the room are decent value - varied although we would welcome a warm dish served every day. Anyway the breakfasts are giving you energy for the active day. The hosts are very hospitable, generally we cannot complain about service.

If you get there by car there's a free parking in front of the penzion. There's also a restaurant on-site. We used to come down there for our evening meals and generally it's very good choice although bit pricier than the other restaurants we visited in Jeseniky mountains. The room price is quite OK for the standard you're getting. In general it's a highly recommended place.

Food, service and rooms were top notch. The Sekula family that owns this establishment does a fantastic job making sure one feel comfortable and every aspect of the operation is super. However, pictures can tell the story better than I so please visit my facebook page,( IVAN TAYLOR), and look at the albums of Kovarna,Cuisine, and Horni Lipova to get a personal look at my visit their. If you like you can email me @

I was in Jesenik last month for skiing. We found the Pension kovarna , where we had lunch. We all had red meats and steak tartare , beautiful meat , lovely service . So after meal we asked the owner to show us the rooms upstairs. Nice , typical and great value , as the food was. We finally stay there for 5 days , enjoying each of the dinner offered by the lady chef owner. There is even a SPA program offer by the pension. Close to other mountains with a quick drive , we definitely will be back.

Penzion Kovarna is situated in the beautiful Horní Lipová valley. It has a restaurant which serves breakfast and evening meals. The standard of the food is excellent. Lots of different cold meats and cheese with plenty of tea, coffee and fruit juice for breakfast.

Dinner is served in the lovely restaurant with real log fire. The restaurant boasts an excellent wine list. By Czech standards it is a little pricey, but you are getting more far than your average Czech restaurant.

The rooms were a good size, spotlessly clean and the bathroom roomy. B&B cost about £20 pppn, again perhaps a little more than we have paid for other accommodation, but well worth the small extra cost.

If you don’t have your own transport, the train station is a 15 min walk, there is also a bus that runs all day up to 22:30. The only thing you may find annoying is the early morning train at 4am which passes round the valley. The train drivers seem to enjoy blowing the train horn a bit too much!!

All in all a very relaxing and pleasant stay.
