I have used the Millstone pub several times over the past ten years and always enjoyed the setting and service until the recent months.
The staff are unfriendly, unhappy and they find it difficult to offer basic customer service.
The landlord and staff are scruffy and sets a poor image.
The pub area is unpleasent for eating as dogs are always found in the pub.
The best the Mill offers is the beer garden and river setting.

I am new the area and had friends coming to visit for the day.We wanted to go out for Sunday lunch and I was to choose the pub. What a let down this ine was!Nothing like the way they describe it.Dark, dingey and grubby. No sign of any log fires as stated on website and it was a cold day.
The poor guy behind the bar was obviously new but getting little help from anyone else.No friendly chat for us from the staff. We got our drinks at the bar and waited a very long time for anyone to serve us at the table for food.Mine was lukewarm and poor.
Staff were unkempt and I saw through to the kitchen where one employee looked very very scruffy.
I shall certainly NOT be returning and will not recommend this place to anyone.

Totally embarrassed to have chose this location to meet with friends over the last weekend.
The setting is beautiful until you enter the pub where is seem's more like a building site.
The staff had very little enthusiasm, infact the chap that served us looked like he had only just risen from his bed. Whilst being served he continued his conversation with what I can only assume was a regular to the pub. His presentation was awful & his clothes needed an iron.
Once we located a table we found it still to have spillage from previous customer's, dirty glasses & empty crips packets. We ordered the sunday roast which for its price was very dissapointing. Undercooked roast Potatoes, Very hard vegitables & meat as tough as old boots. We required more gravy as very little was provided. This however was brought to our table around 10 minutes after we had asked for it. Therefore most of us had completed our meal without so as it would not turn cold.
The toilets were a big let down. Smelly, dirty with broken tiles & a toilet brush container which was much in need of a clean itself.
The atmosphere in the pub was very glum. Staff didn't look very happy to be there & those that were seemed hung over or could be heard complaining of feeling unwell.
It was after we overheard 2 member's of staff having a disagreement & fowl language being used we decidewd we will not be staying for dessert & neither will we be returning.

This rustic mill down a country lane still retains the authentic feel from bygone days simple fare and cheery service added to the whole experience.

this typically english pub exudes atmosphere with riverside garden and log fires, The food is ok, but relatively pricey, although these seem to have dropped a little recently. Have stopped selling standard items like Corona beer and Big Tom, but the beer festivals are fun and worth a visit as are the live music nights.
