We had a planned to walk the Rob Roy Way from Killin to Pitlochry. Accommodation had been booked in Ardtalnaig Lodge ahead of time. Once returning to the road from the hill and bog we sought out the roadside inn where we had hoped to rest and eat before the 6ks to our final destination for that day.
We did not require a full dinner, coming in at just under £50 but a bar meal. Nothing but scones available at the time we were there.
We went on, it was a roadside walk enlivened by the birth of a lamb in a nearby field. We waited for as long as our muscles would let us tarry to watch.
By the time we did arrive at Ardtalnaig Lodge I was half the person I had been at the start of the walk. TLC was definitely required and It was supplied.
A warm welcome, a cream tea with an enormous pot which we set about draining set us up for the night. Well-proportioned room, pristine bathroom beautifully decorated with luxury washing products for all parts. There was even a tube of toothpaste!
With a promise to Rosemary that she would hear no further peep from us, we retired to wash and sleep.
There was fresh fruit in the room, biscuits and sachets of all manner of hot beverages but we just needed to rest.
In the morning we were able to appreciate the views visible from all the roof and wall windows in our first floor room.
I replied honestly to Rosemary's question about our night's sleep. I told her I couldn't remember a thing about it!
Breakfast was attentively prepared. A red fruit salad with yoghurt, cooked food,home-made bread some toasted, eggs from the house chicks you get the drift.....
We had ordered a packed lunch and a platter was supplied with sliced smoked salmon, cream cheese, cheshire cheese, cucumber and pickles. We made up our own combinations of roll filing and popped them in the bag with the double biscuit supplied. I would have liked a drink to carry away with me. As it was I made up a sandwich from the untoasted bread and the bacon I just couldn't eat whiich had been served from breakfast.
We were ready for the next day of walking completely restored by the care given to us at Ardtalnaig Lodge.
