“Freindly warm and inviting”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

Arrived at the Bell late tonight after an interval of many, many weeks. We were too late to eat, so just went in for a drink. The staff greeted us in a friendly warm manner, happy to see us back. The fire was roaring on this very cold night. Oh it looked so good. Christmas tree in the corner looking cosy. It is so nice to just go for a drink. The locals around the bar made us very welcome. This is just such a lovely place to eat or just pop in for a drink.

“Ye Old English Pub”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

Taken to the pub by friends who live in the villiage. A warm welcome from the Landlady, this together with the wood fire burning made for a relaxed atmosphere. A good selection of Draft Ale well kept. The sunday lunch was the full monty, starter of smoked salmon was delicious and the Roast Beef (plentiful) was excellent. A good selection wines completed a pleasuable afternooon. I mentioned to the landlady the interesting artwork hanging in the bar and was informed that they were the work of a local artist. All in all a pleasent way to spend a sunday afternoon. Recommended.

“NEVER AGAIN”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

Went here today. We eat out frequently but to be honest this was a complete waste of money. Roast pork was very dry and apple sauce obviously came out of a jar! For sweet I chose chocolate and coffee Eton mess - tasteless. The current web page for this venue needs amending quickly as the current owners are totally misrepresenting themselves. Totally disappointed!

“Delicious Sunday Roast - great for families with kids”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Having just had a 3 mile walk with lots of hungry kids and adults! It was the perfect place for a hearty Sunday roast lunch. We were made to feel welcome and had a large table, with plenty of space for all of us, 6 adults and 6 kids. The Roast meals were delicious and arrived in good time. I would highly recommend it!

“Superb menu choice in a beamed pub restaurant.”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

The log fire was lit and candles on every table enhancing a welcoming atmosphere despite the dearth of diners on a blustery Tuesday evening.
This restaurant has everything right. The menu has something for everyone: scallops,
fresh fish, venison and the usual items including a set menu at £13.95 for two courses from which I chose mussels followed by mullet - very fresh and perfectly cooked and presented.
If, like me, you like to try something different, what about venison liver?
Service was friendly, welcoming and efficient. This, together with the character of the building, achieves that often elusive "sense of occasion".
Good choice of wine and local beers plus a garden for the Summer - anything missing? I don't think so!
