As a non seafood lover I can't get too excited about all the seafood while we are travelling so Chinese was a nice change. The sweet and sour sauce was a bit non description, but the chicken was moist and tender. The chow mein veggies had some crunch to them and everything was non greasy. The flavour was nice, not too salty. I ate it all up and was happy to do so.

The House of Jade has been a bit hit and miss with their open hours, their menu and their service but things seem to be improving of late. Their menu seems more focused and affordable and the quality has improved as well. Great to see a turnaround!

Upon checking in, our innkeeper told us there were basically two options in town: The Sherbrooke Village Inn and The House of Jade. He told us The House of Jade was a combination of Chinese, Canadian, and seafood and would be his personal choice. Being a fan of what he calls "folksy dining," my husband wanted to try it. It was just a few blocks from our B&B, so enjoyed a nice stroll down to the restaurant.

The restaurant closes at 7:00 pm -- at this time of year, at least -- so don't dally around and get there too late! The menu was, indeed, an eclectic mix. If you're picky, they have chicken fingers and hamburgers, so I believe there's something for everyone. The waitress was friendly and the service was good. The dining room was small and the tables were close together. Tonight, there were only 3 couples sitting at 3 different tables and we all wound up talking across the dining room, so that was nice.

My husband had one of the Chinese dinner combinations and said it was delicious. I opted for the liver & onions, which was also quite good. All of our food was freshly prepared and piping hot. The coconut cream pie was freshly made this morning and my husband says it was delicious. (I skipped dessert.) One of the other couples had fish & chips and it looked quite good as well. I overheard both tables telling the waitress they were very pleased with their meals.

All in all, a very good dinner in a very quaint town. We'd definitely eat here again if we were in Sherbrooke.
