We stayed at Ther George At Nunney last November on a weekend away. Location was great as we really wanted to go to Longleat the day after.

The hotel itself is placed on a cute, little picturesque town and looks lovely from the outside. The bar and restaurant area too are lovely. However, the rooms weren't nice at all. The decor looked very outdated. The TV looked like it was 20 years old and the bedding had a weird smell to it.

You could also hear every other person in the Inn and the walls are so thin.

Breakfast was great. You get a choice of continental or a full English fry up.

Definitely visit the castle, which is opposite. There are some lovely walks in the area and some real sights to see.

The ideal English village.

Worth a trip if you're only staying one night, but not worth the money you pay.

Room Tip: If you don't expect much, you'll be fine.

My father in law and I popped in for a meal after a very long day out.Once inside was pleasantly surprised with the decor - very clean, modern and fresh. The staff were all very attentive and there was a varied menu on offer, including a good selection on the specials menu. The service was fast and the food arrived piping hot. Could not fault it, the food was excellent quality and value for money.
Highly recommended

The bar and restaurant are lovely, great decor with comfy seating, clean and modern. We arrived on the hottest day of the year, was shown to our room through lovely decorated air conditioned halls, then Bam! the lady opened the door to our room , the heat was unbearable, our small bedroom had a fan provided, but unfortunately it didn't help at all ,so hot my moisturiser separated in its pot , can't understand why the owners have taken the trouble to air con the hallway and not the rooms themselves, also our room could have done with a lick of paint but thats fine as long as its clean. Overall had a nice stay in a lovely part of England.

Room Tip: Room 8 is quite small with a standard size double bed, overlooks the walled courtyard so if early to bed expect noise from people using it.

Very interesting place to be at, full of history, narrow doorways and mistery!! Our room (no. 13) was a bit tight (perhaps too much furniture crammed in the space?) but spotless, same as bathroom (no shower). Dinner at the restaurant was excellent, with very nice buzzing ambiance. Excellent breakfast, too! Nice place to be when visiting the village: wonderful and very picturesque (lovely properties & gardens), with impressive ruins of a XIV century castle with surrounding moat.

We stayed for one night after a great day out at Stourhead. Check in was easy and we were shown to our room (9) which was fairly small but very clean and the bed was really comfortable. The shower was powerful but very hot and would not run any cooler and on a warm day was not great. We enjoyed drinks in the garden before going to our room to get ready for dinner. Dinner was pretty good overall but my medium steak was medium well (but tasty) and hubby's rack of ribs was really hard to separate. The bar and restaurant has been very well done up and is a nice place to spend the evening with pleasant staff. The breakfast in the morning was one of the best we have had. Definitely kept us going for the day. We had a walk around Nunney using a guide/map available in the pub. This little village is truly stunning and the castle is lovely and open all the time. Just go through the little gate. I think we will return and next time for 2 nights in the Castle suite.

Room Tip: Will def go for Castle suite next time
