Booked a table for my wife's and I for Sunday lunch and found both the food choice and quality excellent. The interior has a really nice feel to it with exposed walls matched against modern tables and chairs and we were given a window table overlooking the castle and next to a warming wood burning stove. We both chose the Sunday roasts, it was nice to see roast duck on the menu as a choice served with a selection of fresh veg, all was delightful. If I was picky the only faults we could find we're that we were not offered a wine list and our young waiter was a little over zealous on clearing our plates, only minor faults but who wants to rush when in such nice surroundings. Will definitely return and be recommending to our friends.

Me and my partner booked for 2 nights and ended up staying 3.

Rooms are furnished really well, All with free WiFi. the breakfast was super, large portions and good to order. The restaurant was lovely the burger especially.

in a great location ( a tiny village with a castle!!) we went to Longleat and to Bath both well worth the trip.

Will definitely be back in the summer

A great place to base from when visiting the area, whether on business or pleasure. Rooms are well sized and furnished. The restaurant is very good and always a good selection of specials as well as a very pleasing menu. Decor is great and I can't wait till the summer to enjoy the new outside area.

Wonderful village and pub. Spent one night here in early December. Pub was very welcoming and we loved its setting within the historic village. Nunney is a super place to explore with romantic castle ruins and a fine tea room, as well as the excellent George. Room was clean and of a good size. Our only complaint was that it sat above the breakfast room which was being used as a function room that night. Very noisy ! A room to the front of the pub might be a better choice with hindsight. Our evening meal was faultless (despite being extremely busy) and the staff worked really well under pressure. Breakfast was also very well done and good value. An atmospheric country inn that deserves to do well.

We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and loved it! We had a lovely room with a great view of the church and castle. We ate in the restaurant and the food was superb. My only grumbling point was that vegetarians are not catered for very well at all. Luckily I eat fish so had the cod with delicious chips and the best mushy peas I have ever tasted. We had a really good breakfast this morning - the scrambled eggs were out of this world. The chef at this establishment can definitely cook. All in all we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend this charming pub. Thanks :)

I visited Nunney to see the castle earlier this year and came across the George pub and rooms. It is an absolutely stunning village. Tiny castle surrounded by a moat. I really wanted to come back and stay and had an opportunity to do so over the summer. I called up last minute and got a great deal on their four poster bedroom. Large, comfortable room, amazing old fashioned bed and fireplace. Bathroom is round the corner and a bit more modern. The bathroom didn't have a window which personally I don't like very much but it was perfectly clean and of a good size. Disappointed by the toiletry selection- I thought they might have some nice bits but it was the really basic, cheap stuff.
We ate in the pub in the evening. Really nice atmosphere, good menu but food seemed a bit mass produced and disappointing. Breakfast in the morning was in an odd room which felt like it was meant for something other than breakfast... Didn't seem quite finished as there were bits and pieces of stuff lying around that you wouldn't expect to see in a breakfast room. It was also a very cold room.
Overall, it was a good stay but I did feel that perhaps it seemed a bit cheaply done at times. It is a beautiful old building and putting a touch more into the food, breakfast room and toiletries would have turned it from a good to a sensational experience.

My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights midweek in early December, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nunney is a beautiful rural area with its castle and charming stream, but it was the The George itself that really surpassed all our expectations. Our room was clean and excellently sized, with its generous full bathroom and comfortable bed - also great views of the surroundings from the windows! The first night was spent eating in the restaurant (which needed to be reserved earlier in the day), and the food, cozy atmosphere (wood-fuelled fire in bar area) and service were great. Breakfasts were a similar experience - fresh and of a good quality. The aesthetics seem to imply care had been taken to renovate and modernise without loosing the traditional, and as other reviewers have implied -it works. There was actually some painting going on in one of the corridors when we arrived, but this in no way affected us and was not a problem. Staff were at all times friendly and welcoming, making our short stay truly a pleasure. Would happily return.
