Last week I had lunch at The Castle Kitchen which is under new ownership. I enjoyed a homemade pasty with a delicious red cabbage coleslaw and pickle followed by a homemade lemon cheesecake that was to die for. My friend also had the pasty but she opted for the Etonian Mess cake which came with cream.
The welcome we received was warm and very friendly and the menu was individual and creative and, even better than this, it was reasonably priced.
I recommend a trip out to Nunney to try this new gem of a cafe. You will enjoy the homemade food and the friendly welcome given by Richard and Nic.

Visiting Nunney for the first time yesterday, my wife and I went into the cafe with little to no expectations and were very surprised to find a small, well ordered cafe. What was also pretty good is that some of the seating are old church pews, it gave the cafe a small, warm and evocative feel.
The couple who run the place, assisted by their children, are warm and very friendly, happy to talk and making recommendations on food as well. What was also excellent to see, and also rare, is that they have a bit more for vegetarians than gets offered than most most restaurants. The selection is small (it has a small kitchen), but around half the selection is vegetarian or can be catered so.
We had Greek style salad and Ploughmans, which is offered as a vegetarian option. The latter doesn't have cold cuts of meat, so is a safe option. The ploughman's was excellent and I especially liked the pickle (pickledilly is also offered instead), the cheese is also excellent and really tasty. If people are unsure of trying Wookey Hole cheddar, then this will confirm just how good the cheese actually is.
The greek style salad was also excellent and, what was pretty amazing was that the olivesand feta cheese were exactly the same as what gets offered in Greece. Juicy olives and oil were prepared absolutely spot on and, if you have never been to Greece, this gives you a perfect idea of the food there. The houmous and pitta complimented it extremely well.

The coffee and tea were well received, though for those people who are not fans of strong flavoured tea, the Clipper tea is pretty strong. However, it tempers well with additional milk. On a cold and wet day, however, a strong tea will be needed.

Any problems were very swiftly rectified, with apologies, and it can't be faulted. In all a very excellent cafe and even worth a diversion to visit if you're in the area.
