This hotel was the second stop on what was a tour that we had organised a year before. The hotel is new but whoever designed it has not utilised the beauty of the beaches. The colour of the buildings is so drab and uninviting. Very depressing. To top it all when we went to have a shower before dinner there was a horrible smell from the water. (like perming lotion) When we brought it to the attention of the management, they said that they were aware of it and sent us 4 bottles of water to have a wash????? I find this appalling as we were charged for staying there. Please check if this has been rectified if you are considering going there.

Room Tip: Give this hotel a miss, if possible.

Nice, new hotel. Fits better than other hotels in the area.
Room is spacious, clean. Good beds. Spacious bathroom. Good value for money for the rooms. Tv and minibar in the room. Reasonable prices.
The rooms are noisy, something needs to be done onwer!
Staff is very friendly and does everything for the quest.
Mr. sharma is always available for questions. The menu is good , the quality not stable, in general it is ok. prices for food are reasonible.

The Amethyst resort was one of the best hotels we have ever stay in.
It has most fantastic view of the sea. The room was like chalet bungalow and very nice size. Also they came round at the end of the evening if you need to top of any Tea ,Coffee, Sugar,Milk or water.
The water in shower was always hot and clean. In the room there was everything you required.
The pool was fantastic and the pool guy Shasika alway made sure your sun bed was ready for you when you arrived at pool or near the sea. Sometimes it was decorated with flowers or Swan made from the towels. He was very friendly and very chatty, always ready to meet your needs.
The food in the restaurant was fantastic, there was everything to meet your diet needs. As I am vegetarian there was plenty for me to eat. If you did not want a big meal then you can have snack which was fantastic.
Also there is bar and pool table.
When you arrive at the hotel you are greeted by two lovely receptionist, who have smile on their faces and the kindest personality . Pathmanathan, k.k Jevani and lovely guy who also willing to share a joke with you Thinesh. Kitty. ( baby Crocodile I nick name him.)
I would recommend this hotel very much.

As the hotel is far from the Town Centre it best to book your transport well in advance.
Other then I can not find any fault with this hotel.
Just like to say to all the staff of the hotel Very Big Thank you.xxxx

We were here for 2 nights in December. Granted this is not really the best season and the sea was not very inviting and the sky was not blue, so the scenery was not what we had seen in the photos. Despite this disappointment, the resort lived up to everything else we had expected - quality of rooms, food and beverage, cleanliness, swimming pool, and absolutely impeccable service. We had actually made a mistake while booking on agoda.com, but the manager managed to resolve the issue amicably. Very commendable! Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a couple of days away from the hustle bustle.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are obviously better but if you choose the river view rooms, ask for the ones closer...

Our first visit to East coast in Sri Lanka & had a great time at Amethyst Resort Hotel with family. The staff was very friendly & helpful. The sea was very calm & shallow. Enjoyed the sea very much. Beach was clean & safe to go for evening walks. The pool was amazing specially at night with all the sparkly lights on. Looked like the night sky with twinkling stars.

The food was very good, the crab curry was excellent. We took 2 connecting rooms & the rooms & the toilets were very nice, clean & comfortable.

Room Tip: Very comfortable & spacious rooms

Nice and large river view (well it's a pond...) cabana. Good bathroom - as with all hotels on this beach now the smell of the tap water needs getting used to as it's desalienated sea water. Not suitable for e.g. tea making but they give complimentary mineral water. Nice pool, Jacuzzi is turned off too often. Good dinner buffet, relatively good prices for drinks; and excellent B'fast. Two larger quirks. Firstly it took them 15 mins to do a proper check-in for our two single rooms booked through Agoda, they kept on linking us to a totally different Agoda booking (for one double). And secondly our tour guide, very experienced and reliable, announced this was the first and last time he'd accepted their offer of free drivers quarter; it was just too close to a mozzie-infested pig barn with 2-days old spoilt food in his experience. This happens more often with Lankan hotels and is not only a shame on their care for the tourist's drivers but for those on a roundtrip simply means an extra hidden cost of around Rs 2000/night for proper guesthouse and food for the driver.

It was a wonderful experience, had a great time, the staff from the reception to the house keeping to the pool attendants, are very friendly and polite, the rooms were very spacious(Sea view) whereas the River view rooms are a bot smaller, the selection of food was lovely and value for money.

They were also very flexible when it came to the timings of the buffets and we felt at home and not been rushed to have our meals.
The food was very flavorsome and we had no complains whatsoever.

I will recommend this place to anyone and I am looking forward to visiting it once again

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are the best
