What can we say more than the others.

Yes , it is long driving hours , yes , we ends the day trying to catch some sleep beyond the dust storms and high wind, yes , we were dreaming for short Shower.

But , not only this trip are worth any second of suffering , this conditions are giving even an extra halo.

So many to see, that it is high recommended to ensure you have a real guide with you that joined the trip.
geological, cultural and landscape , are all extreme and unique.

most of the travelers we had met , didn't have one (like we didn't have, although we had been promised we will have) and I think we lost a lot because of a missing guide.

I visited the Danakil Depression and it was one of the best trips I ever did. I have never expected to see such a nature in my life time. What a landscape, colors, lakes, camels, lava lake... If you are ever planning to go to Ethiopia, do not hesitate to book a tour to this place. and it was a perfect decision i took to use Magma Flow Tours, perfect staffs.

I think you do have to take into serious consideration the warnings about traveling here; it is not to be taken lightly. Check your country's travel warnings to read more about the area. However if you do make the decision to go, it is incredible. The sulfur pools were of so many amazing colors in the middle of stark desert are pretty unbelievable. Then for the rest of the trip around this area, I mean the beautiful, crystal clear salt lake in the middle of the desert, sleeping under the moon and stars in the desert with the 'fire winds' whipping you to sleep, the spectacular scenery along all of your drives to these places filled with mountains, valleys, desert, lava rock, is amazing and then the grand finale of the trip to visit the (very!) active volcano called Erte Ale....well, all I can say is wow. This is one of those trips you will not forget. It is not for the faint hearted, even if you have a lot of money to spend on a fancy tour operator, conditions are not easy, but that is part of the fun!

A great region to visit...tough, but well worth the effort.

Make sure you bring good shoes, a head lamp, a sleeping bag.

I've been around the globe and this place really stands out as the most basic and different place I have ever been. I've camped in the Mexican and California deserts but not nothing compares to this. Imagine death valley CA without restrictions or amenities. There is a great deal of mineral wealth so hurry before it changes and roads are built. Use Origins Ethiopia as your tour group, truly a bunch of GREAT guys. Visit Dallol and Erta Ale for sure and then head to Axum.
