I took a group of 50 people ranging from 30's to 80's for a 3 night stay, with some trepidation following some of the reviews on here. However, no one had any complaints. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the food was good and the rooms were clean. I used the pool and again this was clean and pleasant. Overall some parts of the hotel could do with a bit of a revamp but I would definitely use this place again. My only gripe was the karaoke which went on until 2am which kept me awake for a while but did not seem to bother any of my fellow trippers!

I have used the leisure facilities at the hotel. The small gym contains 2-3 each of rowing machines, treadmills, bikes, cross trainers etc.. and a room with weights machines. Gym equipment works fine but nothing special. The pool is usually quiet with two little cabins for sauna and steam at one end.

Staff are friendly but the facilities are a little tired. If you are looking for a holiday based mainly in the pool/gym, the village hotel 5min away has much larger and modern facilities.

Single room - £36 (not including breakfast which I didn't take there). Stayed in Room 125 where the shower didn't ever get hot. Apart from that, for the price, it was very good value.

To sum it up, I reckon it's the kind of hotel where your grandparents would have been quite comfortable.

Stayed only one night for function, when arriving, were booked in double room, which was incredibly hot, humid and smelly. We tried to open the window, only 1 hinge,, so window almost fell on my husband. We called the reception and requested another room. They where very helpfull and friendly, booked us in different room, upgraded to sort of suite with 2 windows- both were open - hurra! Bathroom water pressure way below expectation. The breakfeast was very basic and of below average quality. The hotel itself is quite rundown and in desperate need of renovation. The staff on the other hand is extremely friendly and helpful, but obviousely cant change the amenities they have to work in.
Would not stay here again, unless it is renovated.

I stayed at this hotel on business for 3 days in the middle of July 2010. Upon arriving at reception the hotel looked fine, a little outdated but everything seemed to be working and the fixtures and fittings were in a good state of repair. I checked in and was shown to the single lift which was lined with carpet and smelled like it used to belong in a multi-storey car park. I had booked a single room in the hotel and was a little bemused when arriving at my 2nd floor room to find a double bed and two bunk beds. Fine, they were obviously out of single rooms, no big deal. The room itself was out dated and 3 out of the 6 lightbulbs were not working. Then the horror occurred, I stepped foot in the bathroom. The tile grout was green and black all around the bath, there was mould on the bottom of the shower curtain, no plug for the sink and cobwebs hanging out of the extractor fan. The shower took 10 minutes in the morning to go from freezing to slightly warm. I had the extractor for the restaurant outside my window, the extractor seemed to constantly be on meaning I couldn't open the window in the hottest room I have ever been in short of a sauna. However the bed had clean sheets and was average in terms of comfort, the pillows were a little flat though.
Breakfast consists of two options: tea and toast (£3.50) and full continental (£10). The full continental oddly was a full english, self served out of those kitchen warmers that are used in school canteens. Everything was swimming in grease and looked a little wilted. I stuck to the tea and toast which was fine. I didn't try the hotel restaurant but the bar on the ground floor serves good well priced food.
Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone and suggest that the Corus group seriously look into renovation for the Solihull hotel as with so many hotels on Stratford Road this is by no means first choice, I don't even think it would be my last choice. I would rather use a tent.

My wife and I with four friends have just spent a very enjoyable weekend at the Corus Hotel in Solihull travelling with The coach holiday.com company. We found the holiday advertised in our local newspaper it offered three nights bed breakfast and evening meal, two full day trips round the Cotswolds including Stow on the Wold, Bourton on Water,Moreton in the Marsh, Stratford on Avon etc. and same coach and driver throughout. The hotel was excellent with four course evening meals and full english breakfast and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Bar prices were average and there was entertainment on Friday and Saturday night. This is the second trip we have been on with this company and we can all thoroughly recommend them

have just returned from a four night stay, i was with a large coach party, and found room very comfortable, the only problem walls very thin you can hear noise from the next room verygood quiz night thursdays, andyou could use the pool for free,, breakfast very basic but you could have as much as you like. only problem you had to wait for them to replenishl it at times, get down early and you have no problems. staff very friendly and rooms clean, yes my bathroom did have some dirty groughting but nothing a good scrub wouldn,t resolve, in all i paid a very good price for my holiday, may be if i had been on business depending on the price i had to pay my comments might be different
