A good stay. We will return at different times of the years as the area is worth exploring as the seasons change.

Not jewel in the Ghyll Manor crown is the quality of the food and wines. Alone well worth a visit.

Had a change of our first room as it was quite worn with carpets and walls. Was very spacious with not a lot of furniture, so didn’t feel very comfortable. The lack of WiFi for work didn’t help. Thankfully they changed our room! Second room was more modern and enjoyable.
The location isn’t so great if you’re looking to do things during the day with Brighton being the closest place at an hour away.
If you’re after a quite stay away from the city then probably for you!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us . Please accept our apologies regarding the standard of the furnishings in your first room on arrival , I am glad to read that we were able to rectify this for you and that the second room was more suitable making your stay pleasant and enjoyable. We are currently looking to refurbish some of our bedrooms this year so I do hope should you return you will able to benefit from this. With regard to location we are situated in the rural village of Rusper a beautiful and quite area. Brighton as you say is approximately an hour away however Horsham is the closest town located 15- 20 minutes away which offers an array of facilities , bars and restaurants. Thank you again for your feedback and we do hope that you will look to return to us again in the future .

Kind regards

We had the pleasure of staying in the Mahogany suite. It was beautiful, making us feel like Lord and Lady Ghyll for a night! :-)

The bedroom is huge. The bed is enormous, the largest we've ever slept in and ridiculously comfortable. There's a separate seating area with telly and ample tea / coffee and a huge bathroom that's in a separate part of the suite, off of the entrance lobby.

Masses of clothes hanging / storage space, ironing board, trouser press - you name it, it's got it. You could live in this room and not want for anything, especially as the restaurant food downstairs is so good!

Only a couple of things would potentially cause any issues. The room is situated directly over the bar - thankfully for us, it was a quiet night downstairs and we were only treated to one (less than virtuoso!) performance by a guest playing the baby grand piano which is in the bar. This is worth bearing in mind if you're a light sleeper as it could cause problems for you on a busy night. Nothing can be done about this - the room is where it is, and the bar is where it is.

The other problem is a lack of water pressure in the room which leads to a frustrating showering experience. The bathroom really warrants a bath AND separate, walk-in shower and the shower could have a powered pump. The step-up into the bath is considerable too, with a slippery bath surface and no grab rails. We both noticed this and are in our early 50s, able bodied. For someone older or less mobile, this may be an issue. Again, a walk in shower would address both concerns. Hopefully, the hotel management may take the suggestion seriously.

Staff
Always brilliant at Ghyll and this stay was no exception. Both receptionists (evening and morning) were delightful. The evening and breakfast waiting staff were fabulous - helpful, friendly and efficient.

Food
For the first time ever, a mixed bag! The dinner was superb as ever. The new chef presents gorgeous food, small but fabulous portions, ideal in our opinion. Each course got better and better! A lovely meal, memorable for all the right reasons.

Breakfast at Ghyll used to a highlight of a wonderul stay but this time it was a sad and unfortunate buffet affair - really surprisingly poor quality and very out of keeping with the rest of the stay. Hopefully 'buffet' at Ghyll is a trail and something that'll have been dropped by the time we return next time!!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us and for your valued comments . I am delighted that you enjoyed the room "Mahogany " such a large and spacious room, I can completely understand your feeling of grandeur .With regard to the bathroom I have passed your comments relating to the possibility of a walk in shower to my Manager and maintenance department to address.
Thank you for your lovely comments regarding our receptionists and waiting staff they are greatly appreciated and a pleasure to read. Also I am delighted that you enjoyed a superb dinner in the restaurant but it is disappointing that we did not reach the standards we aspire to with our buffet breakfast. I do hope this did not mar the overall enjoyment of your stay and I do hope should you return it will be a different experience.

Kind regards

Very nice place to stay for business, prefer the main building to the rooms further away. The staff are very good and the rooms and lounge areas are very comfortable. Parking is easy. Some of the rooms are not as nice as others.

Took my husband away for the night for his birthday. We had a lovely 3 course meal and had breakfast in the morning. Both meals where lovely. We sat in the lounge area and a member of staff lit the fire for us. All the staff were friendly and the room we had was lovely and clean. Would recommend this hotel.
