“nice & quiet”
Reviewed November 25, 2011

nice & quiet hotel, huge swimming pool, room very large and clean, great view over balcony to the sea and pool, 6th floor, place is nearly empty, so had whole place to enjoy ourselves, just a warning, pranburi beach is far from hua hin and not close to pran buri city, bus and taxi (if u know how to get one ) is a long experience, would choose here to stay again

Room Tip: middle 6th floor , building number 2, in the centre

I knew this would be out of Hua Hin city, but I was pleasantly surprised to find Pranburi. Its a sleepy backwater of a beach thats so chilled and relaxed. Bikes, kayaks etc are cheap to rent and all without the sleaze of every other city in Thailand.

Sadly we stayed at the Pattawia.

Simply put, the Pattawia is about 10 years past its prime and in need of major renovations. From the outside it looks ok but with staff who arent remotely interested in you you start getting worried.

The rooms were ok. A huge bed (easily could put 4 people in it),but the bathroom had taps that were falling off, water not running properly etc (but a huge bath that was nice)

Front doors that didnt lock and staff who just walked into your room without knocking...

Fitness centre was filthy as well.

Decent enough free breakfast but internet at 200BHT and hour!!! Forget it.

As I said, great beach/area to stay and that road has lots of beautiful hotels, and all with vacancies, so would recommend those places.

Well this resort was a total surprise to me, ive been to Hua Hin many times over the past 2 years and when i booked this resort over the internet i stupidly thought it was close to the city centre of Hua Hin. We took the train from bangkok travelled first class had our own suite, to be true we didnt really need it the trip was only about 5 hours after a few typical train delays. So when we arrived at 7.30 at night we went to get a taxi and were told our resort was 45kms away, having been here many times i thought at first the taxi driver was trying to rip us off or had our resort mixed up with another. After a bit of confusion off we went in this taxi driven by this funny little man who kindly stopped at a 7 eleven for us to grab a few singha travellers for the 45km journey. Back on the road we had so many laughs along the way, we were never in danger of a high speen colision thats for sure! As he heading off the highway along these twisty turning roads in the dark my daughter and I were just thinking where the hell are we going but having said that we both felt very safe with our driver......ok so manybe we had a moment of thinking we were on ``candid camera``.....then we headed towards lights and passed resorts lite up in the night. Then we drove along the waterfront past funky little beach bars and restaurants and started to get excited this place looked so interesting.
Driving thru security at the Pattawia we saw this 6 storey hotel resort, after check-in they took us to the 6th floor we had a room on the top floor in the middle of the resort over looking the entire resort out to the water.....such a pleasant surprise. The room was clean comfortable and we each had a double bed without having to request it. The bathroom had a full size bath with spa. The bed were comfy with beautiful crisp clean sheets and chunky pillows.
We took a wonder down the road towards were we had seen a beach side bar, we couldnt see at night water we are overlooking was a beach at low tide or not. Next morning we woke to a lovely view of the water. The breakfast pretty good they seem to cater for most breakfast tastes and it was nice sitting out on the deck overlooking the huge resort pool. We hired some scooters down the road and took a ride out of town and what we saw was just so relaxed and layed back and not crawling with tourists.
I enjoyed being in Pran Buri so much i will definately be going back it seems to have it all. Its a nice balance to stay here 2 to 3 nights for the relaxed laid back atmosphere then stay in the city of Hua Hin for more nightlife and shopping etc.
I found the Pattawia Resort brochure informs potential guests that it is located a few mminutes drive from the heart of downtown Hua Hin, many be stretching the truth by 45kms and about 40 minutes! But well worth the drive.
