Make sure you don't pay more than 100 TT dollars. When you pay the guy charges you 50dollars more..refuse to pay it..You leave in the afternoon on boats and enjoy the birds, snakes, crabs and tiny bears..late afternoon you watch thousands of Scarlet Ibis fly in to overnight on an island..A spectacular scene. Worth going and easy to find on the Solomon Hochoy Highway. If you are a little early, and have a picnic basket, there is a place to sit close to the swamp. Bring your champagne to have a sundowner on the small boat. There is a mall on the way to the Airport if you are way early.
I recommend this for everyone visits Trinidad. Make sure to have your cameras.

I just came back from visiting the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. It was amazing and definitely worth every dollar! We saw a pretty large caiman, variety of birds, crabs, oysters and thousands of Scarlet Ibis coming to roost in the trees. The island was pretty much covered. Our tour guide Darren of Mahdoo Tours was very friendly and knowledgeable. The groups were smaller and they go the extra mile to make your tour enjoyable. I would highly recommend Madoo Tours. It was indeed a very memorable visit

I enjoyed seeing the scarlet ibis, snakes, other birds in their natural habitat. The boat ride was serene and romantix, wxcept for the loud motor/ engine. The guide was knowledgeable.

I just came back from visiting the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. Seeing the scarlet ibis and egrets coming to roost in the trees was simply breath-taking. Madoo tours, you ROCK, thanks Sean for a wonderful tour. Don’t let the age fool you, he has over 10 years experience. That experience is shared throughout the entire trip, as he educates you on mangrove, oysters, birds, caiman & scarlet ibis, just to name a few. He whistles to the sounds of the various birds so they could come into view and they actually chirp back. Sean goes the extra mile to find things, his eyes are trained in the swamp to see everything; and that often leads having a little bit of fun on the boat.

Be sure to walk with your camera, but if you don’t have one, no problem Sean passes his binoculars so you could get a closer view.

We contacted another tour guide but the rates were quite high. Madoo, a smaller company was next, great rates. They were an energetic team and that made our trip memorable. Customer service was excellent, something not so common on the island. You definitely get your money’s worth with Madoo Tours. Great tour, a must see for all visitors. Can’t wait to get back to Trinidad, Madoo Tours will definitely be on the list!

Caroni Bird Sanctuary Tours = MADOO TOURS, most definitely recommended.

A wonderful experience not to be missed if you are in Trinidad. We saw thousands of scarlet ibis. They all flew at sunset to roost. The trees look like they bloom... We also a sleepy boa in the trees. Our guide told us it is best to go there during the winter months - I recommend Madoo Tours - smaller numbers.
