“Excellent and very welcoming”

Stayed at the Old Station House for a weekend in May 13 whilst house-hunting nearby. We are a family of 3 plus dog.

We were very impressed. Easy to find, plenty of parking, very welcoming hosts and a lovely room. I was astounded that the owners were so welcoming of dogs with such lovely (and antique) furniture! We are used to paying for a basic place that is easily cleaned (as with most dog-friendly hotels) so to be treated so well was a wonderful surprise.

No noise from the trains and lovely to be able to sit outside and watch the cricket from the patio.

Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet, friendly and comfortable stay whilst visiting Shrewsbury and the surrounding area. It was perfect for us being close to Bomere and Baschurch, but may be a little far out of central Shrewsbury if it is the town that you want.

We hope to return and to meet Col, Margaret and dogs Bella and Jess once again. We couldn't have asked for better.

Very nice and very clean. Would recommend this B and B to anyone. We had evening meal here as well and this was first class also. The breakfast the morning after was also to a good standard. Even though this B and B is situated on a level crossing adjacent to the railway lines you simply never hear the trains, which do not run through the night anyway.

We stayed for three nights in this elegantly converted station. An ideal base for exploring Shrewsbury and the surrounding area. The accommodation was excellent and our hosts were totally charming. The breakfasts were freshly cooked and superb and we took advantage of the offer of evening meals which were also of extremely high standard and vegetarians were catered for.
We enjoyed our stay so much and we are certainly planning to return next year. Our stay was a great success and excellent value for money.
Our fears about noise from trains proved unfounded - not at all intrusive. In fact, it was quite exciting to have breakfast on what was once the station platform!

We've just spent three nights at The Old Station. We were hopelessly delayed by Friday night traffic and turned up unforgivably late - but were forgiven and treated to some wonderful home-cooked food, all the nicer for being so graciously served at that late hour. The room was very comfortable and quiet - and yes, there are a few trains but they're two carriages long and you barely notice them (and I'm quite a light sleeper - but slept like a log). One thing I don't think anyone else has mentioned is that dogs are welcome, a big point in favour of The Old Station. It's located right next to a cricket ground (and not in the middle of an industrial estate as one online map would have it) and is a great place from which to explore Shropshire.

An extremely comfortable bed, very clean and tidy rooms, elegant furniture, superb freshly-prepared breakfast, very friendly and hospitable hosts. What more could you possibly want? And very good value too.

It was a pleasure meeting such a lovely couple. One one of their two nights' stay they also opted for an evening meal and we enjoyed chatting with them both over the breakfasts and the dinner.

We stayed one night and toured Shrewsbury. The Old Station B&B is a unique experience and amazingly affordable. The room was beautiful, large and comfortable. the furniture was gorgeous. The breakfast was delicious - made to order. We cannot say enough about the owners, Lord Col and Lady Margaret. They were gracious, friendly and quite witty. If you do get a chance to book a room there, one night is not enough. Highly recommend this gem.

Margaret and John enjoyed one night's stay with us on their marathon holiday from the USA visiting England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
We thoroughly enjoyed their company and conversation over an evening meal and were fascinated by John's knowledge of English history which put us to shame!

We stayed here at the end of August and were sorry it was for one night only. We enjoyed being out of the town (though it is only about ten minutes from Shrewsbury) and in such a unique bed and breakfast with so much history. The room was lovely and spacious, bathroom beautifully renovated, the beds large and very comfortable. The extra personal touches make such a difference too. We thought we'd probably be woken by trains but didn't really notice them.
We really enjoyed our stay and were made to feel very welcome by our hosts. We would definitely return on future trips to the UK!
