Lovely clean and airy apartment. Has nearly all you need for your stay. The one thing our apartment lacked was a shower curtain, so the bathroom became a wet room. The public areas are all clean and well presented and the on site staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of sun loungers at the pool and waiter service from the cafe. 3 restaurants within walking distance and a small but well stocked supermaret in the village.
We stayed for a week from 20th September. As other people have mentioned the property is relatively easy to find, and when you do find it, it is a beautiful place.
The views are stunning from the pool area and their are plenty of sun beds.
The apartment is very well equipped and furnished nicely.
The staff, Melica (reception) and Mirko (cafe), were very friendly and willing to assist in any way required.
Slight downside is the cafe only does drinks(very nice), no snacks and closes at 5.
There are 3 restaurants in the village and short walk away down a steep slope. The best of the 3 is Sutvara. A local restaurant with very friendly service and good food.
This holiday accommodation is of a high standard. The most striking thing of all is the view from the pool area which is gorgeous. The apartments are new and reasonably well equipped. There is most thing you would need to look after yourself for your holiday, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, hair drier, iron etc. Nothing is provided in the way of disposables except for half a roll of loo paper, lined bins and a tea towel.
It is a great place to stay and the staff are both friendly and helpful. It is worth going to the welcome meeting as a lot of information about the local area is usefully given.
The village is very near but a long way down a lot of steps and then a hill. Once there, there are three restaurants including one that is supposed to be the best in Montenegro and is certainly a lovely place with wonderful food. There is also and Italian which will do deliveries and a local restaurant which serve very reasonable food in a nice location.
A group of four of us stayed in Lavender Bay August 2017, and had a lovely time. We are already planning next years trip to Montenegro!
Lavender Bay was a great accommodation to stay in. We had out concerns with it being a newish resort and had booked through secret escapes but those concerns soon vanished once we arrived.
The resort is easy to find, once you reach the town of Morinj its just off the main road.
Our apartment was nice, clean and modern. We did leave our feedback regarding certain areas such as there is no basic items like washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets so you have to go and purchase yourself (they ask the apartment to be clean on departure) and also our wifi did not work well.
Other than that the resort was great, reading other reviews regarding the sun loungers maybe this is dependant on the time of the year? But we went August and had no problems at all. It was very quiet and always were able to get a bed at any point of the day. Murko in the cafe was truly amazing, and would bring you cocktails by the pool on request.
Milica the rep welcomed you on arrival and with an optional welcome meeting the next day, you were able to get all the information on Montenegro you wanted.
If you are a cat person you will love the resort as there are very friendly kittens who love attention of the guests. Kotor itself is famous for its stray cats, and even has its own cat museum.
Car hire is a must to go out and see other areas. The bay itself is stunning with Perest and Kotor places to go and see. We hired a private boat for the day using Kotor Boat tours (180EURO) for 4 of us and would recommend as a way of seeing the whole bay.
All in All, go ahead an book you wont regret, my only concern is that with the apartments all for sale, this resort may not be able to be booked in the next few years.
Me and my husband have just returned from a weeks holiday at Lavendar Bay and we have to say we have had the most wonderful time. The staff are helpful, polite and considerate and we couldn't ask for better service. Milica on reception really went out of her way to ensure we had a great time and was extremely helpful.
The complex itself is exclusive, quiet and has stunning views over Kotor Bay. We booked this apartment as we wanted to stay in the mountains in a peaceful location where we could fully relax and Lavendar Bay didn't disappoint.
The apartment itself is new, clean and has fabulous views. We really enjoyed our stay there and think the apartment was really well equipped with iron, washing machine and dishwasher. Some things which could be added are a hair dryer and a safe.
On the complex the pool view is fabulous across the mountains and the bay and there is a jacuzzi within the pool as well. There was always plenty of sun bed space at any time of the day as it was pretty quiet with guests, which was perfect for us. We took full advantage of the onsite free spa and used it almost every day. As the complex was quiet we practically had the spa to ourselves and every evening treated ourselves to a jacuzzi sauna and steam room before heading out to eat. The onsite massages are very reasonably priced and the lady that gives them does an amazing job, I was so relaxed after my massage I struggled to get off the massage bed!
The cafe does great drinks but there is no food served there which means if you don't have a car you have to make your way down to the restaurants or catch a bus to Risan. This is perhaps a part of the complex that could be improved, even if the cafe served a small selection of sandwiches I think it would help the guests. However there is a bread man that delivers fresh bread every morning which is a lovely local touch for the guests.
Whilst there we explored by foot the lovely local village of Morinj which is a ten minute walk down around 120 steps and some further hills (fine for us as fit people in their 30s, the trip back up might be more problematic for other guests). The local restaurants were lovely. Sutvara is a grill which has great food and is excellent value for money, two mains meals, desserts and drinks with bread and garlic dip to start cost around €26. The best seafood restaurant in Montenegro is about 20 minutes walk with a gorgeous setting and the Italian restaurant on the bay front, Tramontana, is spectacular in the evening.
We hired a car and took advantage of the car parking space. We used the car to travel to all the villages around the bay such as Herceg Novi, Risan, Perast and Kotor. We did kayaking in Herceg Novi and walked around the castle walls in Kotor. Our favourite place however was Perast, a lovely quaint village which is a hidden gem. You can enjoy drinks and great food at restaurants overlooking the bay. Regarding buying food for the apartment, there is a local grocery store near Sutvara in Morinj but it is quite limited, we found the market in Risan better.
Onsite you can also book tours. We booked the rafting in the Dormitor national park which was €80 pp and included transport, food and the full rafting experience. The scenery is absolutely spectacular and we would fully recommend this activity. In September the river Tara is very low and is suitable for any ages as the rafting is very mild (category 2). There are other boat tours and activities that can be booked at reception.
All in all we had a fantastic time and would recommend this complex to anyone who is looking for a peaceful retreat surrounded by beautiful mountains.
Wanted to go somewhere we had never been before and chose Lavender Bay in Montenegro - what a gem!
4 of us stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment which was very well furnished and the kitchen well equipped + it has WIFI - can't fault the apartment
The pool is in a beautiful setting with fantastic views of the mountains and very clean. There were a couple of times when there were no sun loungers available - we realised people were absent for hours but left towels on the loungers - so we just started moving the towels.
There are a couple of good restaurants in the village - others have commented the number of steps - good exercise but not for faint hearted
The on-site rep is very knowledgeable and I would recommend going to her briefing.
We took her advice about driving to Dubrovnik - glad we did
You do need a car to get around but that was also part of the fun of the holiday. We found the Montenegrins very friendly and intend returning to visit another part of the country
Stayed for 5 nights in August. Resort itself is lovely, quiet and just big enough to be social but also not surrounded by people. Barman so lovely and drinks very reasonable. Views from pool amazing but pool very small. We stayed in this one bed apartment, very clean. We loved the kitchen and balcony, the chairs are great and a good sized balcony.
The bedroom really let the place down, the bed is huge but so uncomfortable, my partner especially struggled. Plus the colourful, cheap bedding doesn't fit with the modern furniture. For me, a 'luxury apartment' should have better quality bedding, just a white hotel style sheet. The shower head also points out of the bath which isn't too practical, lounge very big but sofas and in need of replacement. We would still recommend, blocks and apartment very modern just the finishing touches aren't quite up to speed. Good enough but I wouldn't describe as luxury.
