Can be seen if time permits, Khambaba is locate in a small lane next to the interstate. It will probably take couple of minutes to see the pillar said to be 2000 years old build by Greek ambassador.

It is an ancient pillar built by Heliodorus a Greek Ambassador of Alexander the Great in 113 BCE.
It was at the entrance of a Vishnu temple now only stones remain of the temple.
The local fishermen community worships it and calls it Khamb Baba
It is in tje middle of a village and a little distance from Udaigiri caves

To be honest there is not so much to see: a stone pillar and an information board. Yet, the place has such great significance, that all history lovers should come here if in the area - physical evidence of the contact between two of the great civilisations of the ancient world.
The pillar is just a few miles from the Udayagiri Caves.

What's good

Almost 2200 years to inception, the pillar gets another star for its closeness to Udaigiri Caves. Ancient and mysterious, the pillar does offer an experience.

What's not good

Nothing else around.

What to do

Club the visit with Udaigiri Caves and read about it before you go. You will appreciate it more.

Khamba baba as the name suggests is the name of the pillar from the time of Ashoka. It is a must visit and is an epitome of the history.
