We stayed at this hotel after a 7 night cruise with Thomson (which was fantastic) we have traveled a lot and like things nice and we enjoy evening entertainment, when we arrived at the buena vista we thought it was lovely and to be honest it was immaculately clean and the staff were fabulous.... But the Germans were rude and we understand that is not. The hotels fault, and we have holidayed with lots of nationalities. we found the food very very repetitive if you like pork and fish you will love this hotel as there is pork and fish for both lunch and dinner everyday! And if you want to go out and eat somewhere else for this you have to travel as the area is like the town that time forgot there is nowhere in the surrounding area that makes you feel like you are on holiday and there is nowhere for you to get away from the boredom of the hotel. This we found was the hotels BIG downfall, the entertainment was so sad we actually felt we was on a saga holiday with singers in the main area who looked like they were Not actually singing, although if you like ballroom dancing thats what a lot of couples did which was our only laugh watching the couples compete with one another ....lol. we went to the other entertainment area ......ONCE and that was enough we never returned. This was the hotels BIG downfall. Our room was great very large with a large balcony unfortunately we was on the side that didn't really get the sun until late so the sunbed on the balcony was not used much. All in all it was OK we have been to better and been to worse hotels. We wouldn't go back to this hotel but maybe we would go back to Tenerife but in another livelier area. Basically it is lot of money for what you get I expected more from a rui hotel.

Immediately on arrival the "feel" of the hotel was extraordinary; the friendly welcome, the receptionist taking on bell boy duties to take us to our "room" (which turned out to be a suite),the almost immediate arrival of our request for an extra pillow.... Room 509C consisted of a spacious bedroom and an equally spacious lounge with free safe, refrigerator and TV. There was a second toilet as well as a bathroom with full length bath, much more than we were expecting. Then the sea view from the large balcony was an extra bonus. When we requested a second lounger to be put on the balcony this was done with no fuss and we received a phone call to ask if everything was OK and did we need anything else. What superb customer service. And there's more. All the staff were the friendiest imaginable. The food was varied and of high quality. Can I go on without using further superlatives? The only adverse critcism was the standard of evening entertainment which largely featured miming and dancing. But to cater for a very cosmopolitan clientele takes some doing. We were so pleased with our stay that we asked to see the manager on the last day so that we could congratulate him on the friendliness, efficiency and professionalism of his staff. We've never done that before!

Room Tip: C block had the sun on the balcony in the afternoon which suited us. Other blocks had sun most of the day.

Travelled as a family April 2013
First impressions a bit tired, this is a very very BIG hotel
Room was very spacious, a small suite really, tired but very clean
All staff very friendly and keen to accomodate
Pools were superb
Not too much of a problem with sunbeds although the lastest German trick is to reserve 2 lots of sunbeds, 1 for the morning and another for the afternoon- unbelievable!! Many beds were mysteriously reserved and didn't see anyone all day - I just don't get it
Food good, plenty of choice
Childrens club good but childrens evening entertainment, after the mini disco at 8.00pm, was tragic, and at times frightening and completly unsuitable at times
Location was poor with no where to walk too really, hotel ran a bus to Playa Americas but it dropped a long way out. Taxi cost 17 Euro ea way and so this was quite an expensive extra
One reviewer stated that they had stuff stolen from the room which put us on guard, there is definately some kind of issue there, there are a quite a few security guards roaming about and something that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Make sure you use your room safe which is free - makes you wonder why - you normally have to pay
However it was a lovely hotel with attentive and friendly staff and other that the location a pretty good hotel really
I would go again

Once again have just returned from spending 10 nights at this excellent hotel, Hotel staff, Rooms, Food, Cleanliness and all other facilities excellent, staff are so polite, and if you want entertainment having your evening meal, go to the top of restaurant and listening to Pascala singing, everything at this hotel just gets better every year, looking forward to March 2014.

Room Tip: Front suites on second floor are excellent

We stayed at this hotel from the 9th April for a week- Myself, Partner and 10 year old son.
I must say we truely loved it - nothing to complain about (other than a week wasn't long enough!!!)
The staff were excellant- from reception to the maids etc - always asked if you'd had a nice day and if they could do anything to help.
The food was fresh and lots of choice.
My son loved the 21:30 entertainment shows, and wanted to watch it everynight.
The room we had was fantastic- 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, lounge and two balconies with fantastic sea views.
I knew the location was quiet when I booked it- and this suited us perfectly as we wanted a relaxing break - don't book it if you want lots of shops and nightlife.
Not only is it the best Riu we have stayed in but the best hotel we have ever been to and I work in the travel Industry.
Definately a 4 star, Would recommend and we will be returning.....

Thank you for an amazing time Riu......
