this place was amazing, the yurt was cosy, the cookhouse had everything you needed. steve and paula welcome you, and are always on hand for anything you need. you can wonder round and see the animals, we were lucky as piglets were born while we were there, so managed to stroke 2 day old piglets. you are welcomed with a food hamper, with their own meats and eggs. steve also welcomes you with warm homemade shortbread. there is a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge for you, and the homemade jams and chutneys are delicious. we had a fab holiday, and would defo go back. x

We stayed in Evelyn, the gypsy caravan at Drybeck Farm for a few days over our wedding anniversary and it was simply wonderful. Steve and Paula were so welcoming and friendly and the farm itself is in the most stunning location on the Eden valley. We spent a relaxing few days enjoying the unexpected sunshine and exploring the local area.
The caravan and the farm have so many unexpected bonuses it seems a shame to describe them all, but a welcome hamper including wine and farm produce and an exceptionally well thought out choice of utensils and kitchen equipment meant we wanted for nothing. And the inside of the caravan is beautifully arranged and charming.
I can't recommend Drybeck highly enough, it was absolutely perfect.

I can't praise Drybeck Farm highly enough. The location is stunning, one of the most tranquil, idyllic places I've ever been, with the beautiful River Eden running right beside the yurts and cookhouse. You really do feel as though you've escaped from the rest of the world, time slows down and all those little stresses of every day life simply disappear.

The welcome from Steve and Paula is so friendly and helpful, you feel instantly at home and know if you need anything at all, they're there to help.

The breakfast (made up of food reared on the farm, freshly laid eggs, homemade bread and jam...) is to die for, and the cookhouse with its traditional wood burning stove (or a gas hob if you prefer!) is exquisitely equipped with top end utensils, tea and coffee etc. Dining tables are placed next to it under an awning looking down at the river. You could quite happily pass all your time there and never leave the farm!

The location is perfect - Carlisle, Preston, the Lakes, Hadrian's Wall and plenty of country walks and villages and towns to mooch around will keep you entertained if you summon the energy to actually move.

And the accommodation is breathtakingly beautiful. We stayed in the smaller yurt - still very spacious - and it was furnished with a huge comfy bed, lovely armchairs, lit beautifully by candles and, bonus!, it had a woodburner so should it turn chilly at night, you'll still be toasty warm. In fact, you'll be praying for rain overnight just for the experience of listening to it pattering down on the roof while you curl up in front of the fire.

The only hint really that this is anything like camping is using the shower block (a modern, wooden pair of spotless showers, complete with complimentary eco-friendly toiletries and piping hot water) and the funky little compost loos, which is the thing that everyone dreads, but if you follow the instructions, they really don't smell!

As I said, I can't say good enough things about Drybeck Farm – seriously, go and check it out, you won't regret it.

And I was lucky enough to go along to write a review on behalf of the paper I work for so to see a couple of pix and my full review click <a href="http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/leisure/travel/reviews/9783132.Now_that_s_what_I_call_camping__in_a_yurt/" target="blank">here</a>.

We arrived on Friday, travelling from Halifax and when we arrived we were greeted by Steve and Paula. Steve escorted us to the yurt that we were staying in, which was warm and homely and well decorated with a lovely big double bed. A bottle of wine and shortbread awaited us when we arrived together with a very welcome and tasty breakfast pack. Despite the very rainy weather we had an absolutly fantastic weekend and went home extremely chilled out.Would definatly recommend that to our friends and family.

Went to Drybeck Farm for a short honeymoon and stayed in the Grand Yurt.

The Yurt itself is brilliant, great furniture and a nice wood burning stove. The farm is very picturesque sitting next to a nice slow stream and woodland. The animals are nice to visit, feed etc but not so close as to be too noisy or anything.

All the facilities are kept well and very clean.

The jams, meat and eggs that the farm provides are very nice, we also bought some to take home (not expensive).

The owners are extremely helpful and cant do enough for you, we are looking at going next year and taking some family along.

Also, for anyone going, the Dukes Head pub in the closest village, Armathwaite, does brilliant food in a nice surround with all local produce.

Cheers for a great stay, looking forward to next time,
Effie and Tom

Room Tip: Grand Yurt really beautiful.

Wonderful stay, ideal anniversary destination. The pictures on the website made me choose this as our anniversary destination and the real deal was even more stunning, has to be seen to be believed.
We stayed in the gypsy caravan which was cosy and perfect - the little touches, (don't want to say and spoil other guests discovering it), made everything just that bit more special and romantic. It seems as if nothing hasn't been thought of to make everyone's stay one to remember.
Drybeck Farm is an example to the hospitality industry at large that genuine care, attention to detail and interest in the guests makes the location one that will definitely be returned to for all the right reasons - stunning location coupled with first class hosting. Steve gave us a tour of the whole of Drybeck Farm on arrival which made us feel very welcome and comfortable. He then took us to the facilities which are excellent, the girlfriend was worried about the compost toilets and outside showers but the showers are warm and powerful and the toilets clean, tidy and do not smell - hopefully put a few sceptical minds at rest - and then finally on to the gypsy caravan which was perfect.
The down side is the delicious home cooked cakes and beautiful breakfast basket will get you fat - and you may come home with an extra member of your family in Drucilla the cat!
Our excellent experience was prolonged as we bought some of their pork and chutneys which were succulent and tasty.
Highly recommended to all, our friends have already booked up to stay from our experience and we will definitely be coming back - they put the Glam in Glamping!!

This was our second stay at Drybeck Farm and it will definitely not be the last! everything was absolutely perfect - swimming in the river, eatting some of Drybecks own succulent rare breed pork, looking up at the stars through the skylight of the very comfy and very stylish yurts, getting a chance to talk with Steve and Paula ( who are without a doubt two of the most wonderful people we have met for ages), walking to the nearby Armathwaite local shop for an icecream, sitting at the table in the gorgeously decorated and fully equiped cookhouse watching the geese and ducks on the river..... and the list goes on and on.....a totally fulfilling, relaxing and ecofriendly experience!!
