“Fantastic - Nice and Chilled”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2012

Went to Drybeck Farm for a short honeymoon and stayed in the Grand Yurt.

The Yurt itself is brilliant, great furniture and a nice wood burning stove. The farm is very picturesque sitting next to a nice slow stream and woodland. The animals are nice to visit, feed etc but not so close as to be too noisy or anything.

All the facilities are kept well and very clean.

The jams, meat and eggs that the farm provides are very nice, we also bought some to take home (not expensive).

The owners are extremely helpful and cant do enough for you, we are looking at going next year and taking some family along.

Also, for anyone going, the Dukes Head pub in the closest village, Armathwaite, does brilliant food in a nice surround with all local produce.

Cheers for a great stay, looking forward to next time,
Effie and Tom

Room Tip: Grand Yurt really beautiful.

Wonderful stay, ideal anniversary destination. The pictures on the website made me choose this as our anniversary destination and the real deal was even more stunning, has to be seen to be believed.
We stayed in the gypsy caravan which was cosy and perfect - the little touches, (don't want to say and spoil other guests discovering it), made everything just that bit more special and romantic. It seems as if nothing hasn't been thought of to make everyone's stay one to remember.
Drybeck Farm is an example to the hospitality industry at large that genuine care, attention to detail and interest in the guests makes the location one that will definitely be returned to for all the right reasons - stunning location coupled with first class hosting. Steve gave us a tour of the whole of Drybeck Farm on arrival which made us feel very welcome and comfortable. He then took us to the facilities which are excellent, the girlfriend was worried about the compost toilets and outside showers but the showers are warm and powerful and the toilets clean, tidy and do not smell - hopefully put a few sceptical minds at rest - and then finally on to the gypsy caravan which was perfect.
The down side is the delicious home cooked cakes and beautiful breakfast basket will get you fat - and you may come home with an extra member of your family in Drucilla the cat!
Our excellent experience was prolonged as we bought some of their pork and chutneys which were succulent and tasty.
Highly recommended to all, our friends have already booked up to stay from our experience and we will definitely be coming back - they put the Glam in Glamping!!

This was our second stay at Drybeck Farm and it will definitely not be the last! everything was absolutely perfect - swimming in the river, eatting some of Drybecks own succulent rare breed pork, looking up at the stars through the skylight of the very comfy and very stylish yurts, getting a chance to talk with Steve and Paula ( who are without a doubt two of the most wonderful people we have met for ages), walking to the nearby Armathwaite local shop for an icecream, sitting at the table in the gorgeously decorated and fully equiped cookhouse watching the geese and ducks on the river..... and the list goes on and on.....a totally fulfilling, relaxing and ecofriendly experience!!

We have just returned from 2 nights in the gypsy caravan and had a truly wonderful time. The caravan was everything we could have hoped for and more as was the site in general. Steve was so welcoming and friendly, giving us a grand tour when we first arrived and nothing proving to be too much for him or his wife while we were there. Everyone we saw greeted us with a friendly hello & asked if we were enjoying our stay.
The facilities are second to none, particularly when you consider they don't use any electric. It's incredible what they have achieved. We were a bit jealous not to be staying in a yurt as the kitchens for these were phenomenal. Having said that, our fire pit with cast iron pot & kettle was great (as was the option of using the gas burner for when we ran out of patience!).
There are deckchairs, 2 tables (complete with fresh flowers) and a canopy to make outside living all the more enjoyable. The showers were piping hot and supplied with eco shampoo, conditioner & shower gel. Candles and lamps were in abundance so we barely used our torches. Basically, everything has been thought of for you!
The shortbread on arrival was delicious, as were the breakfast items- sausages & bacon from the farm's pigs, eggs from the farm (with the most vivid yellow yolks I have ever seen), homemade bread, homemade jam.... It was all fantastic.
The site is on the bank of the River Eden which is a flurry of wildlife, if the farm doesn't provide enough for you. It's also a great place for a swim (was a bit chilly though!)
We were the only people staying at the time and the weather was idyllic, but even if this wasn't the case, I'm certain we would still have had a fantastic time.
Would highly recommend Drybeck farm for those looking for a relaxing getaway in a great location with fantastic hosts.

I stayed at Drybeck Farm with a group of 15 in April and we were lucky enough to have the whole site to ourselves. The pictures on the website looked good but we had no idea just what a beautiful setting we were going to be treated to. Steve and Paula were exceptionally welcoming, providing wine and home made cakes when we arrived. Steve even made sure we were entertained at breakfast the next day, watching him herd up the excitable farm animals that had decided to come and check out our freshly baked breakfast hamper! The yurts and gypsy caravan are decorated imaginatively with a really personal touch and we had everything we needed to ensure a perfect weekend. A definite recommendation!

Our stay at Drybeckfarm was one we will never forget. The setting along the river Eden is the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. The train station is only a 10 minute walk away from the site. We ventured out to walk to the mysterious Lacys Caves which are nestled at the side of the river, the walk to get there is just beautiful. Getting around the lakes is not a problem dimple ask Steve or Paula and they will give you directions and can recommend the best places to eat in the area if you fancy venturing out.

The yurt is lovely, warm and cosy, a game of cards in from of the fire with the door open listening to the rain was so nice, so don't be disheartened if the sun doesn't shine!!!

What made the stay for me was the owners. Approachable and happy to help, they provided us with a wonderful breakfast pack filled with produce from the farm, a bottle of wine, and a selection of homemade cakes. We felt very looked after.

Thank you Paula and Steve for such a memorable weekend, we will be back again!!

We stayed in the gypsy caravan last weekend. It was fabulous! Drybeck is a truly special and magical place, everything about it is delightful. The gypsy caravan was perfect in every way and great for those seeking tranquillity and peace. Don't worry about comfort or warmth, the bed is lovely and the log-burner heats the place up quickly on cold nights. Cooking the delicious breakfast provided on an open fire in the morning was fab, and very tasty.

Steve and Paula (owners) are LOVELY and nothing is too much trouble.

Thanks guys for a perfect break,
Laura & Tom x
