After arriving at the hotel we were told they had resold our room to a contractor, we were moved to another building and told it was that or nothing. Do not pay a deposit it does not mean anything!!! The area is nice but the hotel is not in a great location to enjoy it.

Went to the Kilcreggan Hotel for lunch with my 3 year old son after recommendations from family and the food was so good I wished I had actually gone for dinner. We had one of their lunch time specials - sandwich with salad and chips and a drink (soft or tea/coffee). The ham and tomato sandwich was made with proper carvery-style ham, not the usual processed stuff and the bowls of chips were huge. I asked for a small scoop of ice cream for my son and he was presented with a sundae style dessert big enough for us both to share. The waitress who looked after us was totally charming and made us feel completely welcome. The evening dining room areas (there seemed to be a few different styles) looked very inviting and the toilets were immaculate. This lovely old building also had nice outdoor seating areas and the views over the loch were stunning. I'll definately be going back.

I had the unpleasure of stating here whilst house hunting prior to our move back to Scotland. This hotel is seriously in need of refurbishment, including the one channel TV(only one that worked)
Beds in serious need of replacement - unless to like the feel of springs in your back at night.
Asked if i was eating there, and told dinner starts from 5pm - i declined. Didnt have a cooked breakfast, preferred the other alternatives.

Be careful with you Credit Card - was charge twice for the same same transaction, this was refunded by my Credit card Company - was later phoned by the hotel asking " why i didnt just ring them "

I was a little apprehensive having first made the booking, then read some of the reviews others had posted.

The hotel is a lovely old building in the village of Kilcreggan. I was struck by the order, decor, and cleanliness of the place. It is a beautiful building which has been extended to include a large dining bar and a conservatory. There's a nautical feel about the place, very nice indeed.

The bar was also welcoming, where I ate an very good evening meal. They also served Real Ale which is commendable in Scotland.

The staff were very friendly, in particular the lady who cooks the breakfast. Must say, the breakfast was outstanding. A full cooked breakfast accommodating a very large plate!

The room I had was a small single with a shower. Basic, but clean with TV, tea and coffee, and the usual ensuite with towels etc.

I'll certainly be booking here again. For the money, it was a cracking find. Well recommended.

A lovely big house over looking the lochs, excellent spacious clean rooms, was given lots of useful advise by the owners of places of interest to visit, so that our 3 night stay was not wasted rambling around trying to find places, breakfasts excellent, especially the porrige would make you anything you wanted, nothing was too much trouble, choose to eat there in the evenings as well a good variety of home cooked food and unusual food, try one of their kebabs, had a good knowledge and a selection of locally brewed Ale's, would recommed it to anyone, will hopefully be visiting again soon.

the kilcreggan hotel is a beautiful hotel over looking the water the food is good and the service is excellent the owner (carol) had us laughing from the moment we met her. its a very quiet area so you will have to travel if you want activities but we didn't find it a problem we drove out to the local towns with directions from carol and one day we took the ferry to helensburgh and then the train to Glasgow center it took about an hour and cost about £8 but was a great day out. there is a bar in the hotel which seems to get quite busy with locals at night and a bar a few minutes walk down the road that has sky for all the footie lovers we stayed for 3 nights and loved every minute

We stopped for lunch at the Kilcreggan Hotel on our way from Cove Park to Helensburgh - a big mistake!
In the bar we were told that the usual chef wouldn't be in till 4 pm. but that everything on the menu was available.( A very pleasant and friendly waitress served us by the way). So two of us ordered mussels which arrived cold with some kind of sauce dribbled over. We sent them back of course and ordered the soup. One more table was occupied and the person who ordered mussels there also sent them back. Not only because they were cold but she found the first twelve shells empty!
At the end of the meal someone came to our table - the owner? - to explain that the mussels were cold as they had been left too long at the hatch in the kitchen! The person at the other table was told that as mussels is only a starter course she couldn't expect that many! Shades of Fawlty Towers indeed. No apology was offered and when the bill came the mussels were still itemised and charged for. This was only corrected after yet another complaint.
