Enjoyable and what a super view of the city. You can either walk, uphill or take the cable car and walk down. for the less able you can take the cable car both ways. Its easily accessible.

The gardens are really big that we did not see all of them. What we did see was great - even in winter the gardens are quite delightful. Lots of variety from formal to informal and local to imported plants and well laid out. You certainly get a work out walking around the gardens - up and down hills - so make sure you wear good shoes. The sculptures along the paths are fantastic and interesting in their own right, Definitely worth a visit when in Wellington and the Cable Car is a great way to get there. The shop was disappointing but minor in the scheme of things.

Who would have thought a botanical gardens so high on a hill. It is a toss up - start at the bottom and walk up then down or at the top and climb back up at the end. But make sure you visit the graveyard. it has a very interesting history. The freeway goes right over the top and the graves that were not moved for the roadway are still there beside or even under the elevated road !!

Well the overall experience was quite under whelming, I was expecting a lot of gardens and court yards, different sculptures and fountains. Instead it was more like a park, a lot of greenery, shrubs and bushes nothing too exciting. The view from the observatory was really nice, so was the museum and the cafe - nice staff good quality of food. It was just that I was expecting a garden not a walk through the bush and a hilly one too.

It was a shame we visited in Winter as it would of been great to see all the roses in bloom. I am planning a return visit in Spring to see this amazing garden in it's full glory. Beautiful peaceful place to visit.
