“Great food and beers”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

Friendly pub in the beautiful village of Georgeham. The food served is really good and the menu is interesting.
More of a restaurant than a pub. The tables in the main part of the bar are the best in my opinion.

“One of the best roast lunches ever!”
Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

Worth the trip down the country lanes, and you need to book for sunday lunch as it gets busy. Roast pork was lovely - very high quality and well presented. My girlfriend had the nut roast which was one of the best. Great service and lovely setting. Will be back very soon.

“So, So, Slow!”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

I like the Rock. It's tucked away off the beaten track in this beautiful coastal village. It has a nice ambience and serves good real ales. But, we don't go there much -now I remember why.

Booked for 8pm meal and stood around trying to find someone to show us to our table. Got sat down around 8.30pm, unfortunately on a table right by the toilets. Not very thoughtful of management, seeing as how there were plentiful and better located tables elsewhere.

Orders were taken after around 20 minutes wait, but the first course didn't arrive until 9.15pm by which time we were all famished and mains not until 10pm! We didn't order deserts, coffee or after dinner drinks, so just managed to make it out of there by 11pm! That's 3 hours for 2 courses.

The staff were pleasant and food of good standard, but expensive for a pub in this neck of the woods with wines even pricier. With this mind, it's probably a special occasion venue rather than regular haunt for most.

Parking is a bit of a problem here. There is limited lay-by parking opposite, but other than for this, it's hazardous narrow roadside parking or the municipal car some way away.

We enjoyed a pleasant family evening and were in no particular hurry, but delays in taking orders and serving the food were frustrating and spoiled the continuity of the evening. There were complaints from some members of our party.

There's a need to buck their ideas up greatly on service and with a slicker presentation, the venue would have scored higher.

“Great village pub and food is OK too”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

Tucked off the road in this small village near Saunton, this is a good pub for tourists and locals. In this surfing county, on the nearby beaches, the surfers tend to flock to The Thatch at Croyde. The more discerning head for Georgeham, one village along, and are not disappointed. The menu with changing daily specials is pretty good, as is their wine list. VERY popular in the summer, so booking a table is not a bad idea. Their fish and meat are excellent.

“Great little pub”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We went for a quick evening meal and ended up staying all night.
The atmosphere was relaxing and very friendly and the staff were great.
The food was classic, great pub grub. Great value for money.
We will definetly visit again if we are in the area.
