“Lovely place, great host”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2013

We stayed at Linchens the night before flying out of Gatwick and were met with a lovely, friendly welcome from Sally who was a superb host.Nothing was too much trouble, the room was very comfortable and included all the complimentary toiletries you could wish for.Breakfast was superb, great selection of good quality items, the cooked breakfast we had was delicious, served in a lovely, homely dining room.Overall this was a cracking overnight stay, ample parking if you want to leave your car there whilst on holiday, lovely house in a great location and we will return to stop here the next time we fly from Gatwick.

After a week in the hustle and bustle of London, it was so nice to have a change of pace in the lovely Copthorne area. The whole area is just beautiful, and is enchanting leading to a nice relaxed feeling. Sally is lovely, and so are her two adorable dogs who we made friends with very quickly. The room was neat as a pin, and had tea and coffee facilities in the room, a nice view over the back garden, good quality linen and finishings, and great air flow and so clean and fresh. The bathroom felt like you were in a home, and not a hotel, and was set up with little comforts to be used in case you forgot something. We stayed for two nights and had fresh towels each day. Breakfast was very nice, and was flexible to our needs which was great. Sally has a lot of local area knowledge, and made us feel very welcome and at home with her. The house is currently having a little bit of work done, however this was no disruption and caused no difficulties for us during our stay. Would certainly recommend staying here.

We had a family room which was perfectly adequate apart from the 'bathroom' which was built into the eaves of the roof along the internal corridor of the room. It was separated from the corridor by a shower curtain, was cramped and contained a saniflow toilet with an accompanying filthy toilet brush and a bath with no shower facility. However, as there was no-one in the next room, we were invited to use the shower in the bathroom next door which was much appreciated as using the facilities in our room would have been challenging. The parking and drop off for Gatwick airport was great, as is their arrangement with a good local taxi firm for return pickups etc. Breakfast was fabulous with a good selection to choose from and a hearty cooked option served in a nice dining room by the owners attentive son. However, the reception looked dusty and cluttered and when we asked about a communal sitting room to relax in, we were told that we could use their living room but that Sally and her husband liked to use it of an evening. We therefore felt as though we weren't actually being invited to use it and so we sat out in the lovely garden in the sun instead. We had to sit on the grass though as we weren't shown to any seating area. Sally was having a family get together and this may have accounted for a feeling that we were imposing rather than being welcome guests. Sally allowed us to use their computer and printer for Internet access which was much appreciated. Overall a mixed experience, with some highs and some lows.

I am sorry you had mixed views, I did my best to accommodate you bathroom wise. We put on the website that it is a quirky bathroom. As to the living room, sadly it is NOT a guest area but my private living room as we are only a B&B. I was at the time on crutches as these people saw and agreed to had the living room during the day and I kindly said that we needed it for family use from 7pm as I needed to put my leg up in my own living room. As for escorting them to the garden. I could not get out of the house freely.
I did everything I could to make them happy including the 20 odd free sheets of printing he did.
I have now taken this room from a family room to a double and it works better.

Great place to stay for a night. Welcomed by the friendly owner and two beautiful and well behaved dogs, this B&B was full of thoughtful touches - from beauty products and perfume in the bathroom to all the breakfast options you could imagine! I'd definitely recommend it.

We stayed at this hotel before we went to Gatwick airport for our holiday.
Our host lady, Sally, took us to Gatwick airport. We were able to leave our car safely parked at Linchens for three weeks.
Our breakfast was superb and nothing was too much trouble to be done for us.
We asked and it was done. Like more toast, crispy bacon and strong tea, (we like 5 tea bags per pot).
Excellent place, I will use Linchens again when I next travel from Gatwick.
By the way, on our return from holiday, we were picked up by Tony and taken to our car, parked at the hotel, no problems.

Room Tip: All good. Rear rooms have a lovely view of the large garden. No swimming pool . No firness centre.

We stayed at Linchens on a stop over to Spain with our four kids. The location is beautiful and tranquil whilst very conveniently located to Gatwick Airport. We took the double room and quad room and were very happy with the quality and comfort of both rooms. The breakfast was awesome. We were provided with a lift to the local Dukes Head Pub prior to our afternoon flight as we had a few hours to kill. We will stay again without hestitation.
