Description: Dating back to 1822, The Navigation Inn in Cosgrove overlooks the Grand Union Canal and surrounding countryside. Once bordered by a wharf yard, corn warehouses, a coach house, Brewhouse and numerous other buildings, this Victorian inn has been carefully restored and extended to create a destination venue with an extensive lounge and bar area, 80-seat restaurant, covered garden space, and dedicated carpark. Our Mediterranean-inspired menu is freshly prepared in our open kitchen and served daily from 8am in our light-filled wood-panelled dining room. When the weather is fine, it's a pleasure to dine outside in our spacious gardens, while enjoying a lovely view of surrounding countryside and the canal.

Great service, great food. Can’t understand why it is only 3.5 stars as best restaurant for miles around.

We arrived by boat (Wyvern Shipping Company) and had dinner and went back for breakfast next morning. The pizza was great as was the roast chicken dinner. Great views of the canal.

I have been visiting this pub for the past few years and the food has seriously gone down hill. I believe the quality of what the chefs are producing is substandard for the price you pay. I ordered a lamb Greek salad, the lettuce (mainly spinach) was very wet, the lamb cold and the feta cheese was runny in a creamy sauce. It lacked other main ingredients for a Greek salad. My husbands veggie burger turned up with a few chips, no side salad and was very bland. Don’t waste your money! We won’t be returning.

Hi Kath191919,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are very disappointed to learn that you did not enjoy your recent visit with us. We pride ourselves on providing excellent food using high-quality ingredients and apologise that you felt your food did not reflect this. To reassure you, as stated on the menu our feta is whipped and is meant to be creamy in texture.

We do source our food from award-winning suppliers and as we reach for great food this does reflect in the pricing of our menu but should always follow through with fantastic taste. We always urge our guests to bring any issues they have to our attention as soon as possible where we can rectify the problems as soon as they arise.

We hope this experience does not deter you from visiting us again where we can show you our usual high standards.

Kind regards,
Molly
The Navigation Inn Team

We arrived by narrow boat at 3.30 on a Sunday afternoon and moored at the garden gate but there is a large car park too. A very friendly welcome from the Maitre D on the garden entrance and we were immediately found a table despite the restaurant being very busy. Extensive menu in addition to traditional Sunday lunch - I had a delicious chorizo risotto from the specials menu and my partner had a burger. Both arrived very promptly and were excellent. We followed up with sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake, again yummy, and then nice strong coffees. We shall definitely visit again.
