“Good food and a nice atmosphere”
Reviewed May 1, 2012

I eat at the Green Man every so often, more so when they have one of their reasonably priced offers. The food is good quality and the waiting staff are usually helpful, if a little rushed off their feet in busy periods. However, I am happy to take guests there for lunch...always a sign of a good pub/restaurant!

They have a good selection of food and offers.Plenty of pub drinks to choose from.Small seating area at the back facing the car park, but we always sit inside as it's more cosy.

“Will not return”
Reviewed March 11, 2012

The pub is a nice looking pub with a nice atmosphere. However that's where the niceties end. On a Sunday afternoon I was told that they had run out of roast dinners, scampi and the vegetarian option on their set menu and some bitters. We were told that we must visit before 2-2.30pm if we want to avoid being told they have run out of items.

The staff are pleasant but do not particularly go out of their way for you. We did feel like we were a burden.

The scallops and pork belly were expensive considering the portion size (£6.95 for 2 scallops, a piece of pork belly the size of a scallop and some limp rocket). The French onion soup was merely beef gravy with a few onions in it and a ciabatta bread with melted cheddar on top. The strangest French onion soup ever but an experience.

The portion sizes are average but the quality is not great. More limp rocket, brown cabbage, vegetable tart and fish pie. Edible but not tasty. The fish pie was the better of the two but only contained one prawn, little fish and lots of peas and carrots. The vegetable tart was not very big so I'm not full but not starving either.

We'd had enough that we didn't want to be disappointed further by trying a dessert.

Overall we're looking forward to getting back to have cheese and biscuits at home. The food was edible but we will not be returning. We don't normally write reviews but thought on this occasion it warranted a warning!
