Went on the Ultimate Adventure on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011 on the 6-man raft. Wild Bill was our guide and boy did he give us the thrill of the summer! We had 5 ppl plus our guide on our boat. It was a busy day with several 12-man rafts and 6-man rafts on the river from RiverRun. We decided to stay the night at RiverRun's camp to make sure we got a good night's rest before our big day on the water. Site has decent showers and washroom facilities. Rustic, but hey, it's better than a dunk in the lake! Food is ok, but that's not what we're there for. What we didn't expect was the impromptu party with Upstream Dave, guides, staff and guests on Saturday night. Even the thundershower couldn't keep the music down and the dancers off the tables! Nonetheless, Sunday morning started bright and early. After a briefing and getting our safety gear (vest, helmet and paddle), we piled into the buses and headed to the put in. Our guides gave us more safety instructions and off we went to our first rapid - and a class 4 to boot! I expected to get dunked, and was hoping we'd tip and go for a swim...I didn't know we'd get to do it 2 to 3 times on the first rapid! Our guide, who we aptly nicknamed Wild Bill, had complete control everytime and we had no fear paddling into the raging whitewaters and tipping the raft - on purpose! He made sure every single one of us was promptly restored to our raft, and took us back to the rapids for another go. We did "enders" - a neat trick where Wild Bill steered us nose-first into the rapid, then the crew piles into the bow (front) of the boat, thereby lifting the stern straight up into the air. That was a great trick and we had a fun swim & rescue by the ever-ready guides & rescue teams. The trip also included a cliff dive into minor rapids for an awesome swim. Felt like lemmings as we jumped into the water, one after another. We loved tipping the raft in the rapids and had complete faith in the guides to keep us all safe. All made it back safely. I can't wait to return! RiverRun Rafting is the best outfit on the Ottawa river (tried Owl a few years back, but didn't get the same thrill - it was also a 12-man raft, so that could've had something to do with it). RiverRun took us on 6 rapids ranging from Class 4 to Class 1. Quick stop for lunch in between rapids. First 2 rapids are the most fun, but the last 4 are nothing to sneeze at! Tipping and swimming the rapids are unforgettable and can't be missed. Wild Bill knows how to keep the laughter and fun going, while keeping it all professional and business. He always knew when to keep the crew working and listening, and also when to let us relax and enjoy the scenery. Will definitely ask for Wild Bill again next time! Can't wait to try the rapids in the spring! Love love love RiverRun Rafting. They are truly focused on giving whitewater novices and aficionados alike an outstanding rafting trip. This was worth every dollar spent!

What an amazing time we had with RiverRun (even with the aches and pains the next day! :)

The staff were wonderful - from the girls running the pub, to the boys taking care of the breakfast/dinner lines, to the very helpful young lady running the front desk on Sunday (she certainly knew her rapids!). Everyone was tremendously helpful and answered all of our questions.

Our rafting guide Kendall was very friendly, knowledgeable and a lot of fun to talk to. In fact all the guides were friendly and easy going, and clearly knew what they were doing out on the river - it made all the difference, especially when facing down some of the bigger rapids!

What made the trip even more special was on day two of our two day rafting package. I decided not go down the river again (too sore! :) so Larry and Stefan very kindly took me over to the lookout area in the zodiac so that I could photograph the rafters as they came down stream - I got some great shots!

Thank you for the wonderful memories RiverRun! Hope to see you again soon :)

I had a wonderful first-time experience with this sport. The staff are awesome... friendly, knowledgeable, very patient :) with a great sense of humour. Our guide Drew was perfect for our group of 6. He looked like he was enjoying our experience as much as we were! He helped us have a lot of fun!! I felt very safe (even though we didn't manage to stay inside the raft very often) but our guide and the other kayakers were on hand to haul us out of the river very quickly (so we could get back in the raft and try again). We opted to raft just the one day but boy what a day!

The campgrounds were clean with lots of room between campers. The showers and washrooms were close by. The food was very good and plentiful. Everything was well organized and on-time.

Definitely recommend running shoes or water shoes, ladies a one-piece bathing suit is probably your best option, or wear shorts over your swimsuit. If you want to keep your sunglasses buy straps for them (you will definitely lose them if you don't), If you bring a camera you will want to ensure it's waterproof. The resort takes videos of the day at a reasonable cost. We've watched it a couple of times and every rafter is smiling ear-to-ear ... a great time was had by all!

Thank you to all the wonderful staff for a great time! I will definitely be back to River Run!!

We decided to go to River Run for the Whitewater Rafting, Spa and to stay at the London Inn. The rafting was exciting and fun and our guide Pete was amazing! The accomodations were lovely , with a pool and a hot tub surrounded by lovely gardens. We stayed in the Yellow Room but will book the luxury suite next time. Had some wonderful people staying at the Inn with us. There are hiking trails nearby to explore the woods. We went to the Spa on day two for a facial and reflexology for me and massage for my boyfriend....simply devine. The staff at River Run were all friendly ,helpful and always smiling. This is a wonderful getaway and they accomodate every group.
Thank you River Run !

Just got back from a weekend up at River Run and am planning a second trip back.

We booked the High Adventure weekend package which includes meals, camping and one day of rafting.

1. Camping - the camping area (near the Pavillion) is clean and spread out. There are no designated camping sites, you basically pick a spot and pitch your tent. There aren't a lot of trees to provide shade, but the weather cools downs significantly at night with a great breeze so it's easy to sleep in. There are washrooms and showers close by, and a ton of garbage and recycling bins along the parking edges, so it's easy to keep the site clean. You really don't need a lot of equiptment - we brought a tent, air mattress, pillows and swimming gear and that was all we found we needed.

2. Food - the food was pretty decent. Breakfast is served early in the morning and is a buffet (we had eggs one day, french toast the second). If buffet is not your style, River Run also has cereal, milk and fruit in the morning, which I thought was perfect. Lunch is served during the rafting trip, which is bbq'd. Dinner was also really good - quarter chicken, salad, potato, etc. There is definitely something for everyone to eat, even if you're a picky eater. You can also grab a snack from the pub, but there is not a lot of variety so don't depend on it.

One thing to consider if you come up on a Friday night is there is NO dinner, nor can you purchase it there. So play it on the safe side and pick up something on the road, or bring something to eat for the first night.

3. Rafting - Rafting was nothing less than incredible. It was my first time, and I was very hesitant about going, especially after the safety debriefing, because the staff are very clear that you will fall into the water, and could get injured or worse. That being said, I was in a 12 person raft rather than the 6, so my experience seemed a little less intense than some of the stories I heard from people in the 6person, but I still feel like it was worth it. Our guide Adrian was, for lack of a better word, exceptional!! He was encouraging, fun, knowledgeable.. everything I expected of our guide and more! From what I heard from others, they had the same experience with their guides. Make sure you were sun screen! Some people either wore none or an SPF less than 30 and had some pretty bad looking and embarrassing burns.

In addition to rafting, we also got to jump out of the raft (on purpose) and ride both rough and calm areas which was really fun. We also got to stop and do a little cliff jumping,

One thing that was also great, and unexpected is the ability to not go down a rapid if you're scared, nervous or just have had enough. There was a person in our raft who was not a strong swimmer and didn't want to go down a couple of the rapids, so we simply dropped her off before the rapid, and picked her up right after.

We also got to watch a video of our trip in the Pavillion when we were done our day!

4. Resort - the resort was a lot smaller than expected, but it was still nice and everything is centrally located. There is a volleyball and basketball court, horseshoes, pool table, and other games. There is a fire pit, which is fun. Pub where you can buy some drinks and snacks. The staff and other people visiting were really nice, and we met a bunch of really great people.

Overall, I would highly recommend this trip. If your a beginner or a little timid, go with the 12 person raft rather than the 6, but there are people that were new that also really liked the 6. Also, go with the meals, because it's very convenient to not have to worry about cooking a meal yourself after you've been rafting and in the water all day.
