Gretta is a gem!
Her breakfasts are amazing and she has lots of great tips for places to visit and things to do! I wish we were able to spend our whole time in Ireland at her guesthouse - we hated to leave.
The only drawback to staying here is the location - wish it was a little closer to the center of Kilkenny.

From the moment of arrival to our time of departure, everything was wonderful. Our hostess, Gretta, was so pleasant, friendly, and informative. She's a great tour guide in addition to being a wonderful cook. (Best scones I had in Ireland!) Being on a working farm was a wonderful experience for my retired cattleman husband. Both Gretta and her husband were willing to chat knowledgeably and share Irish farming information with us. The rural setting was very relaxing. The B & B's bedrooms are not luxurious or particularly spacious; but all the ammenities needed to make the visit comfortable were available. With this lovely setting, the charming hostess, and wonderful breakfasts, we had all we had hoped for. Our stay with Gretta at Bungalow Farmhouse was nothing short of awesome!

If you can find a better hostess than Gretta, we will be amazed. She is simply superb. You would think she had all the time in the world to make you feel at home and to help with any and all information about the area you may need. She is warm, friendly, out-going and vivacious. Her breakfasts are top-notch. The farmhouse is a delight in every way. We have often found that the Irish like their homes cooler than we are used to, since we are from sunny Southern California, but Gretta's home was always a warm haven from the blustery cold and rain we encountered so much of our month in Ireland. You can't beat getting into a warmed bed when you've spent the day out and about in cold wind and rain. Just remember to turn the heated mattress pad off before you go to sleep or you'll roast.
It was lambing season and Gretta and her husband, Sean, were VERY busy with all the lambs being born each day and night, but she still had time to help with planning what to see and how to get there. The view of the baby lambs and their mothers from the breakfast room was beautifully pastoral. We could even go up to the barn to see the newest ones that weren't out in the field yet. Those new babies are darling! There was another field with their 5 eventing horses that was also visible from the breakfast room. Lovely! We had chosen a farmhouse B&B to be out of the city and this beautiful home filled that bill perfectly. The inviting guest lounge was always warm (a fire was going most times we were there in the evening) and homey. The furniture pieces are just beautiful. I'd love to visit where she buys her decor, but how would I get a big, beautiful sideboard home with me on Aer Lingus with it's restrictions on carry-on luggage? We stayed only three nights, but we'd return in a heartbeat and stay much longer, if ever we can! Thank you, Gretta!!! You and your home are the greatest!

Gretta 's warm welcome set the tone for our two day visit to the Kilkenny area. She had helpful suggestions for restaurants and itinerary stops and even arranged for her sheep to provide newborn lambs to charm us. The lush green fields with horses grazing provided great photo ops and the breakfast lemon scones were unequaled anyplace else in the entire country. The heated mattress pad was soporific. If you are looking for a tidy, homelike B&B with a pleasant sitting room, the Bungalow Farmhouse will enhance any holiday trip.

This was my first Bed and Breakfast experience and after staying here I would entertain staying at a Bed and Breakfast in the future! It was winter so it was quite cool and we were greeted with a warm fire and hot tea. When we climbed into bed they were warm from a heated bed pad! It was warm and cozy and I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning! The food was some of the best we had during our entire stay in Ireland. We had stayed in other places during our travels. We had wonderful conversation as well and felt very welcome. Thanks Greta and family and staff!!

I recently stayed in August with my mother (her second stay) and a friend from Alabama. We had a great stay. It was like staying with family, Greta was a top notch Hostess. Homemade treats and a nightly fire in the fireplace was wonderful to sit by. Great B & B. Nice breakfast each morning. Thank You Greta and Family.

I stayed here with a group of college students, on a tour. The staff were wonderful, the rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast and dinner were a welcome change from buffet meals at other places we stayed. The owner was accommodating, offering suggestions for activities and answering our questions about the area and their farm.

The rural setting, with their own cattle, horses and sheep in the fields made for a perfect stay and change from the big city hotels. I wish we could have stayed longer. It also made me consider more bed and breakfast stays over the course of our next 10 day trip. I hope to return another year with a group of students.
