If you can find a better hostess than Gretta, we will be amazed. She is simply superb. You would think she had all the time in the world to make you feel at home and to help with any and all information about the area you may need. She is warm, friendly, out-going and vivacious. Her breakfasts are top-notch. The farmhouse is a delight in every way. We have often found that the Irish like their homes cooler than we are used to, since we are from sunny Southern California, but Gretta's home was always a warm haven from the blustery cold and rain we encountered so much of our month in Ireland. You can't beat getting into a warmed bed when you've spent the day out and about in cold wind and rain. Just remember to turn the heated mattress pad off before you go to sleep or you'll roast.
It was lambing season and Gretta and her husband, Sean, were VERY busy with all the lambs being born each day and night, but she still had time to help with planning what to see and how to get there. The view of the baby lambs and their mothers from the breakfast room was beautifully pastoral. We could even go up to the barn to see the newest ones that weren't out in the field yet. Those new babies are darling! There was another field with their 5 eventing horses that was also visible from the breakfast room. Lovely! We had chosen a farmhouse B&B to be out of the city and this beautiful home filled that bill perfectly. The inviting guest lounge was always warm (a fire was going most times we were there in the evening) and homey. The furniture pieces are just beautiful. I'd love to visit where she buys her decor, but how would I get a big, beautiful sideboard home with me on Aer Lingus with it's restrictions on carry-on luggage? We stayed only three nights, but we'd return in a heartbeat and stay much longer, if ever we can! Thank you, Gretta!!! You and your home are the greatest!
