Went here for a meal with a group of 15 friends three days ago and had a lovely evening. The staff were all very friendly, attentive and helpful and when it came to pay our bill they cheerfully suggested that we each paid our bill separately at the till, which alleviated the normal 'large group' problem of trying to sort the bill so that it's fair for everyone and enough money is collected! I had the very tasty starter of Garlic mushrooms on ciabatta bread as a main and was amazed at the size...when I mentioned it whilst paying they admitted that they had increased the portion for me but hadn't charged anymore for it! Everyone else's food look amazing when it came out and all said that it tasted just as good as it looked...definitely go there again and recommend it wholeheartedly! The only reason I didn't give 5 out of 5 was because apart from our group the restaurant was pretty much empty - but I suppose on a VERY wet Wednesday in October it's maybe to be expected - and I don't recall hearing any music so for a cosy tete-a-tete it might be a tad too quiet? Otherwise it was great!

Had a lovely Sunday carvery & good price too.Decided to order 2 desserts of apple crumble on chefs' recommendation. When we got the bill they were £12.95 each!!!!,,,,,,nearly £26 for 2 puds? Couldn't believe it.How can a pud be more expensive than the carvery? If you go here check the prices before ordering.

This review is completely untrue the most expensive dessert we sell is £5.95 your accusation of £12.95 for a dessert is completely ridiculous and untrue I think you have made an error and should have the good grace to correct it

We have been there a few times this year, during June, July and September. It is a flight of steps up form the beach. Sit on the deck, listen to the waves breaking on the shore, watch the sun go down and pick out the flashes of the Eddystone Light. Enjoy the beers - Jail Ale, Doom Bar and Tribute when we were there. Staff are helpful, friendly and efficient even during the busier summer holiday season. In the restaurant we have enjoyed their fresh fish cakes, fish and chips (gasps from Americans at a nearby table when they saw their 'whale' size portions!), and an excellent 'hand made' burger. Hard acts to follow so the only slight disappointment was the Cornish steak. Decorations are a little tired in places and a plumbing problem in the ladies seems to have persisted for several months . . . more than made up for by friendly atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy. Dogs welcome with well behaved owners. Child friendly. In fact really all round friendly. We like it and look forward to going back.

Popped in for lunch, met by apathy so ordered drinks and asked to sit by window. Checked out menu and noticed flies all around, placed order then spoke to young lady behind bar to say we wanted to move tables because of the flies, she was happy to do this but shrugged off the fly problem as "that's flies for you". Food was good but we won't be coming back there is no atmosphere and way too many flies!
