Having read the glowing reviews we arrived in Kodiak with high hopes and expectations, almost expecting to be at least partly disappointed. However, Mary's and Ron's hospitality, their apparent pleasure in doing what they could to give you the best possible time and the flat put our doubts to shame. It really was the highlight of our trip to Alaska and to return to Kodiak without a reservation at A Channel View would be unthinkable.

We stayed at the Channel View B&B’s apartment for 3 nights in July 2010 and highly recommend this wonderful B&B. The apartment was truly like a home away from home with plenty of room, a fully equipped kitchen, washing facilities and all the other amenities of home – totally spot free of course. After many days of travelling through Alaska, this apartment was a very welcome luxury and by far one of the nicest places we stayed at during our trip.
The hosts, Mary & Ron Doubt, are extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about historic and present day Kodiak and Kodiak Island and will do everything to make your stay special. They literally made us feel like family and were more than willing to help plan our stay at the Island – they even took the time to cook two different kinds of Alaskan salmon for us so that we could choose which one, we liked the best. I don’t think we’ve ever met a B&B couple that was this overwhelmingly nice and they are indeed an exquisite example of pure Alaskan hospitality.

As long term world-wide B&B "residents" we have found A Channel View to be as fine as they come. Magnificent location, views, accommodation and food together with quite exceptionally kind and thoughtful hosts. Without a doubt, this would be been a far lesser experience without the generous and informative input of Mary and Ron: They enriched out 6 night stay far beyond the call of duty, thoughtfully providing insights in general and going to great lengths to help with our specific interest in birds and their photography. A most enthusiastically and highly recommended , world class, B&B. Thank you so much, Mary and Ron,, for your very high standards and your deeply appreciated interest and kindness. Our recent trip to Kodiak Island was enhanced by our gracious hosts Ron & Mary Doubt. They are wonderful ambassadors for their island home and we have no hesitation in recommending Channel View to anyone visiting Kodiak. Both are very knowledgeable about the island as well as being a well traveled, interesting couple. They will make you feel at home in their lovely space overlooking the channel waters of Kodiak.

I stayed at Channel View for several nights in between spending six nights on a boat along the coast of Katmai National Park and then three days on the AK Marine ferry to Dutch Harbor. It was a great way to relax and recharge between adventures. Ron and Mary were terrific hosts and they will forever be part of my Kodiak memories. They are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The room was plenty big enough to spread out my gear while I repacked for the ferry trip. The B&B is located within walking distance of town so a car isn't essential, but renting a car for a couple days is a great way to explore that part of the island. I would love to visit Kodiak again and would definitely stay with Ron and Mary again.

We stayed for a few days with mary and Ron, we booked randomly off the internet, by email. From the get-go Mary was already emailing us with Tips, directions and helpful advice well before we even arrived in Alaska. Once we had arrived, Ron was like an unofficial Taxi driver, would ask where we were planning to go and would alway drop us off in conjunction with whatever errand or chore he had for the day. We were 2 weeks in Alaska at many cities and the stay at A Channel View was by far the friendliest and most accommodating.

Breakfast each day was in the breakfast room but with Ron and Mary, they liked to chat and they ensured each day that we got the best info about where we wanted to go or what we wanted to do. And the breakfast room is the view listed here in this photo, awesome and breathtaking.

We hope to come back again soon.

Excellent accommodation. fitted in four forms into the owners' large house. They are very involved with their guests, collecting from ferry and taxiing to points of interest. A wealth of useful information available, from their own experiences. Good food.

Room Tip: Choose from four rooms available, as required
