Kate was very welcoming, even by email prior to arrival. She was lovely when I arrived and the room was so cute. The house is wonderfully British in a fantastic location. The town of Farrindon is far away from any city but close enough to get food, beer and Jane Austen. Take a walk around the small town, it’s beautiful and even more so when it’s drizzling. Kate asks when you’d like breakfast in the morning and because she only rents two rooms, it’s cosy. There is a choice of cereal, fruit, yogurt, and a hot breakfast. I had a bit of everything and her roasted plums with greek yogurt was incredible. She gave me some tips on local places to eat and there is plenty of room to park as well. Since staying at Kate’s, I’ve stayed at B&B’s throughout England and I think the only negative of Old Timber’s is the price. It was a bit steep in comparison to everywhere else I stayed in the UK (especially as a solo traveler), but if you want a great sleep with a fantastic breakfast, stay here!
