“lovely corner of nature and culture in Transilvania”

Viscri is the loveliest place to stay in if you're passing through this region. Close enough to Sighisoara to go for a day trip, close to a lot of other Sachsen villages with fortified churches, surrounded by fields, forest, orchards, off the main busy road, a beautiful, quiet and authentic Sachsen village in Transilvania that you shouldn't miss!

And Viscri125 is the loveliest place to spend the night! good home made food, attentive and nice hosts, plenty of activities...
After a full day of mountain biking through forests and fields, we spent a very relaxed evening back at the pension, in our beautiful attic room.
I liked the mix between comfort, simplicity and authenticity that this place inspires!

If you get the chance, don't miss out spending a couple nights here ! Mihai and his family will make sure you'll have a perfect stay.

We spent 5 days in the middle of July at Viscri with our two small children and we had a really nice and relaxing time there. The road going to Viscri is indeed not the best, I mean the last 7km or so, but it's manageable with a regular car, and for Romanians used to the old roads leading to remote little villages this should come as no surprise.

Once we made it there though, we felt like we stumbled upon something very special. The inner yard was full of surprises for our kids, like a small barn with sand and some toys, lots of grass and free land to run around, a big backyard with a play pen where they could climb, and two delightful hammocks. It was very nice for us as parents too, as we could just relax without worrying about what the kids would do. The room was very nice, and even though I liked a lot the sleeping room, actually the best view was from the bathtub :)

We had our bikes with us, and it is a real pleasure discovering the outside of the village. There were plenty of trails that the villagers use for carts and tractors, that are perfect for mountain bikes. The only challenging hill is the one downtown.

The best things about it all was the people there. Everybody was very nice to us, and Raluca and Mihai really are perfect hosts. And when you feel welcome, you just know you have to come back. Which we definitely plan to do.

We have spent one night in two rooms at this Bed and Breakfast in Viscri. Viscri is mostly known (or should be known) for its fortified church which is part of the World Heritage of Unesco. The road to Viscri is an adventure in itself, and when entering in Viscri, you would not expect there being anything like a decent place to stay.
The village is very poor - as many Romanian villages. The road to Viscri does not really deserve that term (even for Romanian standards) and is more an agricultural path than a road.
We had some trouble finding the house (at least from outside, you do not see any indication that this is a pension - merely the house number. After passing the big front wall, you will enter into a patch of heaven; the owners have restored this old village and farming house and transformed it into a bed and breakfast; unlike in many other places (and probably also forced by Unesco) trying to stay as close to the original as possible (except for the sanitary installations); you can see that the restoration is of high quality. The front court, as well as the back garden are magnificent patches of quietness.
Dinner is served at a separate location in the village (only 4 tables, not a restaurant but a "table d'hôtes" - the food is very simple and yet an incredible delight - a true Romanian feast and using the freshest and most unspoiled ingredients. Breakfast is an equal treat.
The whole place as well as the food is in my views real luxury: there is no attempt to make a big fuzz (which given the surroundings would be utterly inappropriate), and while being very simple, everything is harmonious and of high quality.
It gives a small insight into rural romanian life.

We enjoyed a lot our stay in Viscri. It is a perfect place for home-made bio food eaters, for mountain bike riders and for autenticiy lovers. Kids enjoyed the icecream they made and we learned the secrets of cooking risotto, among many other interesting and relaxing things we did. Raluca & Mihai are special people, very attentive to their guests needs. Our room was confortable and clean, with hill-side view, lots of sun and a special scent of fresh wood. We recommed this place warmly.

Room Tip: HIgher floors are more sunny and have nice hill-side view.

Our 1st of June long weekend was a bliss in the middle of Transilvania, for us and our 2 kids, thanks to our nice hosts at Viscri 125, Raluca and Mihai. Everything was well thought for both adults and kids and they were able to manage 17 kids wonderfully, by providing an excellent program: cooking class, painting on glass, discovering the nature aso, while the parents were busy enjoying themselves:)
The village is located in a beautiful, remote area of Transilvania that can compete in natural beauty with Toscany.
We loved it, so we'll be back!
