I'm going against the grain a little here as most of the reviews are so enthusiastic, but I don't really see what all the fuss is about. For sure, you get up nice and close to some lovely Palm Trees and what we.saw of the beach was reasonably clean and well maintained but, for me, the whole thing is just a commercialised racket.
You drive to the beach through a bit of the forest (nice), join the queue and then pay for parking (ouch), find a free spot on the beach if you can (high season very crowded) or get a sun bed and umbrella (there are hundreds of them) and do your thing on the beach.
There seemed to be plenty of snack bars and the like for food & drinks but, frankly, non looked particularly appealing (or remotely Greek, for what it's worth). Once you are finished on the beach, make your way back to the car park where you will be charged for a shower (no free ones on the beach from what I saw) and then off you go.
Personally, I prefer to find more secluded, quieter beaches to enjoy but fully accept that if you are seeking a more lively, commercialised place for the day you would probably be very happy here (our youngest daughter certainly was, as this visit was her choice!).
They say the Bounty adverts were filmed here. I don't know if that is true or not but if "they came in search of Paradise" once again, they wouldn't find it at Vai Beach, in my opinion.
