It seems to me that running a Taverna in rural Crete must be an extremely difficult way to make a living at this point in time. We have passed many with no more than the couple who own it sitting forlornly waiting for customers to come through the door. Our visit to Paradise was not dissimilar - the only other guests while we were there was the President of Estonia (Toomas Hendrik Ilves) and his extended family.
The reception was genuinely hospitable, and the fresh produce excellent. All the food was locally sourced if not from the owners family gardens. I thought everything was great although my wife was less than impressed with her Moussaka. She and I agreed that the Dolmades (Stuffed Vine Leaves) were the best we've ever had!
