“Two years later, same very good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013 via mobile

We went back to Aristidis this year. It did not disappoint us! Aristidis and his wife are still working hard to serve good food.
The kindness stayed too and of course the special dishes. This year we liked the lamb, very fine herbs on it.
The mixed grill offers good value, but also the menu of the day.
Prices are very moderate and when you make the 10 min drive from Ag. Nikolaos in the evening, you'll enjoy the scenic setting of the village for free!!

“We went back again!”

We found this taverna-cafe more than welcoming and the food excellent. Our host bent over backwards to take care of us and anticipate our needs. When we left crete Ewan and I felt like family and we are going to return time and again and recommend Arisitidis to everyone- We also are going to get him into the Cretan wool business!

“Great food, intelligent conversation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2012

On our recent visit to Kritsa (see Argyro rent rooms) we set off to explore the town. After running the gauntlet of all the traders trying to sell their lace, leather goods and souvenirs, we ended up in the square (a bit of a misnomer, as it's just a small area to the side of the paved road at the top of the town) and sat down at the first taverna we came to, which happened to be Aristidis. We enjoyed an excellent lunch of pork souvlaki and salad.. the pork was mouth-wateringly tender.. and the price was very reasonable. Aristidis was most attentive and interesting to talk to, telling us much about life in that part of Crete and recommending things to do and places to visit. Oh, and unlike most Greek eating places, the chairs are particularly comfortable ... and the location is a great place for people watching as well.

“Just not long enough”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

Took a short visit to Kritsa whilst staying in Sissi and eventually arrived at Arisitidis Cafeteria. We were welcomed at once by the owner and had a very cold beer and a glass of retsina sadly we only had time for a snack of delicious home made chips and a sandwich, would have loved to try some of the other lovely looking dishes, maybe next time. Also thanks Aristidis for taking time out to chat and take a photo of us.
