“Amazing food”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

We stopped in here for an evening meal on a recommendation, and were lucky that they'd had a cancellation so could fit us in (would recommend booking!). Although our table into have a view of the beach, the place had a lovely atmosphere and the food was superb. Would recommend!

“Waimea by the sea”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Lovely food, charming staff, great views over the ocean to Kapiti. Very pleased and intend to go back.

An outdoor area and indoor play room for children to build forts in and access to the beach make it ideal for an extended family occasion

“WONDERFUL ATMOSPHERE”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Service with a smile - we were impressed with the service at this beach-side restaurant/bar. Entree - Tiger Prawns on sauteed peppers & onions and a crusted buffalo cheese with spinach pesto (so delicious). Mains - we both had fish of the day - that came on a couscous bed with panfried scallops and the salad was fresh and crisp. Dessert - Creme Brulee, velvet vanilla melt-in-your-mouth. Great value for money, sensible portion sizes, good wine selection. The night we were there, there was a lovely family-feel in the bar area with the bosses family and some colourful local characters which topped the evening off perfectly over a late harvest wine or two. Will definately stop here again when in the area.

“Plate lickingly good!”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

I didn't expect a brilliant meal from this tiny beach-side restaurant. I'd been before, years ago, under a previous ownership. But, it was only a casual lunch for four people on a chilly Saturday lunchtime. My sister and I ordered fish pie which was simply gorgeous. Delicious fresh fish in a light saffron flavoured sauce with thinly sliced potatoes on top and grilled with cheese. Yum. My nephew had a venison burger with sweet potato chips and our other guest had the HUGE breakfast - including black pudding. For dessert, we ordered a Creme Brulee, a panacotta and a traditional Italian parfait. Absolutely delicious. Made with flair, subtle flavourings and realistic portions Finished up with excellent coffee. Definitely worth heading to Waikanae for. Great wine list and they do a wide selection of Tapas as well.
