“Plate lickingly good!”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

I didn't expect a brilliant meal from this tiny beach-side restaurant. I'd been before, years ago, under a previous ownership. But, it was only a casual lunch for four people on a chilly Saturday lunchtime. My sister and I ordered fish pie which was simply gorgeous. Delicious fresh fish in a light saffron flavoured sauce with thinly sliced potatoes on top and grilled with cheese. Yum. My nephew had a venison burger with sweet potato chips and our other guest had the HUGE breakfast - including black pudding. For dessert, we ordered a Creme Brulee, a panacotta and a traditional Italian parfait. Absolutely delicious. Made with flair, subtle flavourings and realistic portions Finished up with excellent coffee. Definitely worth heading to Waikanae for. Great wine list and they do a wide selection of Tapas as well.

“Best food and views on the Kapiti Coast”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

This beachside Cafe is so worth a visit. There is a choice of spaces to wine, dine and pass the day away with friends. Outside listening to the surf, inside by the fire if its cooler and best of all upstairs looking out to sea and Kapiti Island. I have have always be made to feel welcome and the service here comes with a smile. The food is delicious, the coffee hot and the wine cold (except for the reds!!). There are a number of cafes in the area but Waimea is the standout. Call in - you will be glad that you did. PS. the chef here is onto the gluten free options(I am coeliac)

“Cool beachside cafe”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Visited this cafe last week for lunch for a friends birthday . The place has a very cool kiwiana beach vibe.( complete with horse riders stopping by) A roaring fire was very welcoming as it was a cold day.We enjoyed yummy smoked fish pies that were served in individual dishes. The seafood chowder was apparently awesome and Baby crab cakes, watercress and poached egg was also a hit. Great coffee and yummy rich and gooey brownie was the perfect finish. I will definitely be back and must return to try the dinner menu!
