We stayed here for 6 days after one week in Bali.
It was like staying on the "lost" island, it was quiet, green and memorable.
The hotel is quite a distance from the airport and the local village is quiet but this is a great destination to chill out and relax.
We stayed in suite, not a bungalow cottage, the room was lovely, but slightly noisey in the evening when we people are walking back to the rooms as the corridors echo.
There are two restaurants, the main restaurant which looks out over the beach is quite pricey but the other restaurant which we presumed to be more expensive was great, slightly cheaper, and the food was great. The other restaurant has entertainment most nights which is prob, why it is abit more pricey than what we were used to paying in Indonesia.
The pool is great, and the beach is better, we walked to the hill and fed the monkeys one afternoon too.
A great little idea is that they have a cinema on the beach in the evening.
The hotel is out of the way but they provide alot of entertainment during the day with basket weaving, volleyball and a kids club too.

We did tours too, saw alot of local crafts, visited the waterfalls and went diving to the gili Island which was great.

I would seriously recommend this hotel to my friends, even for a honeymoon.
The barbeque on the beach one evening just made me fall in love with hotel plus cocoa the hotel Cockateel!

Forget the notion of the Novotel hotel group as one you might have experienced it in say the UK - i.e. a small motel in a grotty, any city centre location; rather think of an exotic hotel chain in a dream-like location like this hotel in Kuta, Lombok; absolutely fantastic; the Pool Villas are particularly excellent, and private, in the midst of excellent dining and other facilities close to the beach.

I completely agree with the comments of the previous reviewer. Exact same issues. Too much upselling by front desk to upgrade. General manager was in on it too when I tried to complain. They also didn't recognise my AClub membership yet there were AClub application brochures everywhere on the resort including in our room. Prices were high as they had a captive audience but that was to be expected. Just too much "nickel&diming" at this resort. Too much effort to sell & make more money.
If you have low expectations, you should be ok. If you expect luxury, you chose the wrong place.

The Novotel Lombok seems to occupy a distinct hotel niche which caters to western tourists who are looking for a resort experience and like the idea of travelling to far-flung corners of the world but who don’t really want to get close to the country they are actually holidaying in. To this end, the Novotel doesn’t do a bad job nor does it do that well either.

My experience of the Novotel is tinged with the fact that the place, overall, really wasn’t to our taste and we clearly made a mistake in choosing to stay here. For families looking for a beach and beach activity type vacation the hotel has a variety of good things to offer. However, for those seeking western style luxury in Lombok it wouldn’t be unfair to say that the island has other superior and far better value accommodation.

The Novotel is isolated from the rest of Kuta and the hotel seems to take advantage of its isolation to hike up its charges without offering services to match the elevated prices. For example, we stayed in a four star hotel one hour away from Kuta which offered meals and drinks at about 50% less than the Novotel.

We booked and paid for three nights at the Novotel but couldn’t face staying the full term, happy to forego the cost in order to move to somewhere which was, basically, better (and, as it happens, cheaper).

Our stay began uncomfortably when the receptionist was fairly insistent that we should upgrade our superior room to a villa. We said ‘no thanks’ several times and only just managed to dissuade him from taking us directly to a villa rather than to the room we had booked.

Other than that first experience, the staff were professional and friendly and management seem to run a fairly tight ship.

The food, which was expensive by local standards and in comparison to similarly graded hotels on the island, generally ranged from mediocre to poor. Although western-run, some European staples such as pasta with pesto bore little resemblance to what might be expected and, in this case, was more of a milky soup. After a few meals at the restaurant we found ourselves hunting for dishes that were less likely to disappoint and, to be honest, be edible. I was also a little concerned to see the man running the breakfast ‘egg station’ handling raw eggs and then touching cooked pancakes without washing his hands.

The beach side setting of the hotel is fairly nice but, again, there are, in my opinion, far more inviting beaches elsewhere on the island or on Bali.

The hotel ‘s buildings seem to be a parody of local, Sasak architecture and large, bunker-like concrete accommodation blocks (with an even more incongruous Mayan-style pyramid by the bar). It’s not an ugly place, just very cheesy. Coconut husk seems to be stuck to many movable objects ranging from telephones to hand dryers.

Our room was fine; comfortable and quite clean although an open bucket of paint in the loo wasn’t a particularly nice touch.

We have stayed in a wide range of accommodation whilst in Indonesia ranging from rough, no star guest houses, to resorts and five star business hotels but the Novotel Lombok unfortunately stands out as the most disappointing and we were relieved to leave.

This hotel is an amazing place. Staff, facilities and kitchen were perfect, the private beach was very clean and there was a lot of space between the umbrellas ;) The bar invites to have a cocktail before or after dinner, both restaurants serve very good quality food. Most of the travellers there were Europeans when I was there, although there were some Australians and Asians too.

Kuta/Lombok itself is a very small village, but perfect to enjoy a holiday away from the busy mass-tourism-centers (like Senggigi or Kuta/Bali). Very friendly people around and a lot of things to see on Lombok, in my point of view a "secret" jewel not known very much by most of the tourists.

Have recently returned from 12 nights at Novotel Lombok. The hotel is set in beautiful sorroundings with a wonderful quiet and relaxing beach. The Delux room was very comfortable and very clean. The restaurants provide excellent food and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is about a 10 min drive from Kuta so you will need to hire a taxi if planning on going out evenings. The local restaurants provide good quality and value. The hotel provides lots of activities breakfast on the hill and the monkey visit are well worth doing.
On the whole this hotel is a very relaxing place with wonderful helpful friendly staff.I am looking forward to returning to Novotel in September

My Husband Eugene and I just came back from 7 nights stay in Novotel Lombok and we are looking forward to our next vist already. Despite the not to wheelchair friendly surrounding, it was more than compensated by the most helpful staffs who have made every possible help to make our stay most comfortable. They had prepared a bottle of wine for our wedding anniversary and also surprised us with a birthday song and a cake in the presence of all the diners when we were having our beach side buffet on the last night of our stay.

The live band performances and the various cultural dances evey night and the free daily activities, longest happy hours at the bar, free flow of mineral waters, they even serve us fruits at the beach, its totally amazing experience !! All these services just make you want to stay at the resort and not wanting to go elsewhere.

We use the airport transfer by the hotel is about 250,000 rupiah which USD $25, we did the snorkelling at Gili Ringgit and Gili layer (2.5 hr from hotel) with Divezone which is located at the hotel. The abundance of colourful fishes and the corals were so amazingly healthy and the water visibility was at least 20m. We also signed up a full day (11 hours) round the Lombok Island tour with Aman tour at the hotel, tour include a driver and a guide and lunch . It was tiring but it's worth it as we get to see different scenaries with explanation, we saw the waterfall at the Mt Rijini (2nd tallest in Indonesia)
and beautiful rice field.

Enough said, we want to thank all the Novotel Lombok staff who had made our trip most memorable .
