Did a 3 month S.E.A backpacking trip April-July this past year and I must say that Mimpi Manis was probably the best guesthouse we stayed at the whole trip. Made and the rest of the staff took great care of us. The food was amazing (Made goes fishing just about everday so you'll eat fish that was caught a few hours ago) and cheap (bout 1/10 of what you'd pay for that kind of fish in the US). The rooms are fairly basic but clean and cozy. Our room even had a TV with a dvd player where you choose from the 1000+ dvd selection they had... all for like $10 USD a night!
The only down-side (which isn't really much of a downside at all) is the location is a bit off of the main strip on Kuta Beach (1-2 km). That being said Kuta Beach itself is ugly in comparison to the other nearby beaches so you'll want to rent motorbikes anyways and explore the other beaches such as Mawan, Segar, etc. If your into sports, one good part about the location actually is that it is very close to a local soccer field with a volleyball net where I played with very friendly locals on many occasions. Great fun!
Lastly, if you're into fishing, Made also takes people out for a very resonable price... there were 4 of us and we paid like Rp 600000 total (60...Did a 3 month S.E.A backpacking trip April-July this past year and I must say that Mimpi Manis was probably the best guesthouse we stayed at the whole trip. Lastly, if you're into fishing, Made also takes people out for a very resonable price... there were 4 of us and we paid like Rp 600000 total (60 USD)... We caught one pretty big Mahi Mahi and Made prepared a whole feast for us when we returned (included with the price). I'll never forget the ride back from where we went fishing to Mimpi Manis with this HUGE fish laying across my motorbike under my feet sticking out on both sides. The locals all seemed very impressed.
I HIGHLY recommend Mimpi Manis to anyone thinking about visiting Kuta, Lombok who is looking for a budget, safe, friendly place to stay!More
