Myself and my husband stayed here 4 nights just before Christmas.

This is a great budget place just out of Kuta. Which is great value for money the price includes breakfast in the morning. We especially enjoyed the banana pancakes with honey in the morning.

On arrival you get a welcome drink which was well needed as it was hot. You also get towels, little soap, toilet roll, short information leaflet as well as ear plugs. As the previous review mentioned yes there is a Mosque nearby and they do have a call for pray 5 times a day. However this is to be expected as it is a Muslim country and you'll find this throughout the country. Anyone that has been in Indonesia for a while will be used to this. I for one sleep right through any call for pray. If you are a light sleeper then use the earplugs that are provided.

We found the Gemma and Made extremely friendly and they did their best to make you feel at home. After you have settled in they will take you on an orientation tour of Kuta and nearby beaches. This is a great way to get a feel of the area. I also got to see some of the beaches that I probably wouldn't have visited otherwise.

Other services that they offer is motorbike rental which we did as it was an easy way to get around. They also run a transport service. We choose to get picked up from the airport. Made was there waiting for us to arrive. It defiantly took the hassle out of having to find a taxi as we were also travelling with a friend and her Mother who had never been to Asia before it made it stress free. We stopped at the Sasak village on the way to MM which was a nice welcome to the culture of the island. We also used their transport to go to the ferry to Gili Air and to pick us back up to come back to the airport. All of which were hassle free.

We also went with Made on a fishing trip. We catch lots of fish and had a great day which finished up with a nice fish BBQ of our catch when we got back.

My girlfriend and I spent 3/4 days at this place. First off, I just want to state that I fully realise that Mimpi Manis is very good value and handy if you are travelling on a limited budget but we found a number of issues during our visit which I'd like to highlight for other prospective visitors. Now I am not sure if there was some sort of religious festival on during our visit or whether this happens all the time but during our 3/4 days stay, we were regularly woken up at various times during the night with noise from a nearby mosque (prayers being sung loudly over loudspeaker). As a result we never had a good nights sleep here (ironic given the name of the place). The other reviews praise the rooms but we found ours to be very basic and the toilet/shower very rudimentary (there was a very strong and unpleasant smell of sulphur from the water but probably just the way it is). Also the shower water was always freezing but again probably not their fault as I think a warm/hot shower on Lombok is a rarity. Mimpi Manis is located away from the town. Fine if you want to risk injury driving one of the Mopeds around (the roads are very uneven and dangerous in parts) but if you want to walk or use bicycles (as we did) then it is a bit of a walk/cycle. The couple who run this place (Made & Gemma) also offer fishing trips and having looked at photos of past trips we thought we would give it a try. I have done plenty of fishing in the past so was really excited about the trip. Although the weather was fairly decent when we set out the sea got choppier and choppier and the fish were definitely not biting. Less than 30 minutes after arriving at the fishing spot, Made said the conditions weren't right and that we would stop fishing and return. That was very disappointing but we understood. However having held a fishing rod for less than 20 minutes I was a bit stunned that they still charged us the standard fee for a days fishing. While Made & Gemma are certainly nice and friendly people, being charged the full fishing trip fee left a bitter taster in my mouth. Perhaps we caught them at a bad time but our visit here didn't meet our expectations (formed by the high praise given in other reviews).

Made and gemma are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. A good orientation tour on arrival showing some stunning beaches. Room is basic but more than adequate for the money. Bathroom could do with a make over but considering a small breakfast is included you cannot complain about the value. The area is stunning, the locals friendly and it is a great area to explore on a motorbike.

We booked Mimpi Manis (MM) only for one night as a conclusion to our Lombok nicely, On December 13th to Dec 14th 2011. The booking process is quite easy, as guided by Made, all we have to do is just fill the e-form which could be founded in their website. Since we order only one night, no payment in advance is needed, but we are requested to reconfirm our booking, one week before arrival.

These are our impressions :

Room and Toilet : MM consists of three rented rooms. One is bungalow, two is smaller but with differences on air conditioner / fan. We rented a room with air fan conditioned. The bed, the floor and the ceiling is clean, it covered with bed cover. There is a SDB available too. The bath room is spacious, clean and equipped with cold water shower and little wash basin. The toilet maybe needs replacement, but it still work anyway. Since MM relies on water pump, it would be wise if you store water in a bucket provided in the bath room, in case you have emergency in the early morning and the pump is shut down.

Accesibility : Mimpi Manis located 2 kms from the beach, so you need to rent motorcycle or car to reach Kuta Beach. Since our rented car has returned to Mataram in the afternoon, Gemma kindly offered us a free ride in the evening to observe sunsets ( fortunately she needs to visit her relatives or friends around Kuta beach), so we could enjoy the beauty of Kuta Beach.

Complimentaries, Facilities and The Owner:
A cold welcome drink was served when we arrived on a very hot day...You will be provided with tiny soap and toilet tissue as well, ......... nice !
MM offers free light meal for breakfast, and also provide meal for lunch and dinner ( until 8 PM, I think ). We ordered fruit, toast and pineapple pancake, all is served nicely and tasted tasty enough. The coffee is (surprisingly) so excellent, since it was roasted hand made by Made's Mother from Bali. I could sense smoky flavour in it.
If you already have your own supply of food, you could have it reheated with no additional cost. You could also borrow fork and spoon if you need those.
The staff is helpful, generous and ready to help you. The owner is so helpful and tried to make you as part of families, not only guest.
There is electricity problem around Kuta Beach, but MM has genset to overcome the problem immediately. So be ready for the sudden electricity shut down.... he he he.
Their dogs and cat is lovely. This is for the first time, we saw a dog could get along with a cat !
TV and Free DVD is also avaible. No terrestrial TV broadcast provided.

Orientation Tour :

This is a free tour arranged by the owner, he will drive you around Kuta, Tanjung (Cape) Aan, Seger Beach and its surroundings. It is suggested to have tour around sunset or early in the morning, so you could enjoy the beatiful beaches.

Access to Airport :

You dont have too much option here, unless you have your own car. Bluebird Taxi or other taxi service was very rarely seen in the area ( although they confirm they could pick you up there ), so we decided to accept the paid shuttle service to the airport. Driven savely by Made himself, we reached Lombok Intl Airport in 20 minutes.

Value:
If I compare the price to the facilities, and the generosity form the owner and the staff, I highly recommend you to consider MM as your choice of homestay. The room price is very affordable, the shuttle service charge is quite reasonable too.

Room tip: Room with air conditioned is highly recommended, due to hot and humid weather. Fortunately, there was a hard rain during our stay in MM, so stayed in room with fan is quite acceptable.
