We couldn't fault the welcome, the knowledge and enthusiasm of the bar staff, the menu, the service, the food or the venue itself! One of the best lamb shanks I have ever eaten and the staff and landlord really took the time make us feel welcome. I can't recommend it enough! We will be back! Thank you.

Expected good things based on the reviews here but ended up disappointed. Went for the lamb shank which at £16.95 would be expensive in a London pub. Meat OK, mash slightly lumpy and the jus watery.

My girlfriend had the pie, which was even worse.

Don't confuse with other Packhorse Inns in the Peak District, we ate at the one in Little Longstone and it was miles better.

Well, what can I say. This pub by far is one of the best pubs I have visited, a great selection of ales, home cooked food ( seabass is delicious), very friendly staff & locals. Would not take any notice of the bad comment, I just about understood the terrible spelling & grammer.
Beautiful old English pub with a very pretty garden area - well worth a visit.

Another visit on a very busy night at the weekend.

Despite this, the food was up to its usual very high standard and exceptionally well priced as it has been for the last three years.

Owners and staff go out of their way to be helpful, selection of draught beers varied in terms of type and ABV.

Dog friendly too.

Impossible to fault if a quintessential English pub is what you're looking for.

Lovely village Pub, with a warm welcome for everyone, great food, dogs allowed. We ate there twice and both meals were excellent.
