Again we have returned from this lovely "Old English Inn". The service again was great, food affordable pub grub and the bedrooms cosy and warm, which they needed to be over the chilly Easter weekend.!! Lovely atmosphere in the busy bar and restaurant areas. Staff polite and happy. Service coping with the popularity of the place. Be back next year if not sooner! Thanks to tesco vouchers.

Just returned from a weekend break at the Rising Sun Hotel. While the driving snow and icy winds put paid to the walking the hotel was warm and welcoming and the excellent staff always on hand. The position of the hotel cannot be beaten with views across towards Cheltenam and the footpaths onto Cleeve Hill from the carpark at the rear. The dining areas and bar areas were also very good with 4 real ales on offer and a good selection of wines at fair prices. I have to agree with previous reviews in that the bedrooms and on suites are in need of some refurbishment as the decor and sanitary ware is looking tired and the evening food was acceptable but not outstanding but the breakfast was top draw with a large selection of cerials, fresh fruit and bread plus a very good selection of hot food. I can recommend the hotel and will return in better weather to try out the walks.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights on a deal. Rooms were of a good size, if a little dated. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and nice flat screen TV. All rooms seem to have a great view over the Cotswolds countryside.
Staff were very friendly and well trained and were genuinely happy to be working there.
Food was of the usual standard for an Old English Inn.
What a pleasure to see a local real ale at the bar. I wish other Old English Inns would follow suite. The Sunday night entertainment ( Tony M - vocals and guitar) added to the enjoyment of our mini break. We wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel.

We had a most enjoyable two night stay. All the staff are so nice and very efficient. Lovely place with fabulous views. Also compliments to the chefs for their excellent food. Good free parking available. Would most definitely visit again.

Although not the smartest hotel we have stayed in, this was more than compensated by the friendly and helpful staff who made our stay very enjoyable. Our evening meal was good and the duo Sax-appeal made for a great evenings entertainment. Breakfast was excellent and the waiter polite and efficient. We would return without hesitation if visiting the area again.

Although the decor might be a bit tired, the rooms were very spacious and well furnished. The manager & staff made our stay a delight as they were so helpful & cheerful - they all really seemed to enjoy their jobs.
The restaurant served very good food at very low prices and there was a good selection of wines and beers at sensible prices.
An excellent centre for touring the district & a great location to start your walk from

Room Tip: All rooms have good views
