A beautiful island in the English Channel near Paimpol on Brittany. The best way to get there is by a short boat ride from pointe de l'Arcouest just North of Paimpol. There is ample parking and a short walk to the ticket office at the embarkation point. The fare was 9 Euros per person aller et retour. WARNING, the toilettes at the embarkation point are disgusting and the public ones on the island are a bit better at terrible. If you have need of relief on the island, use the facilities at a restaurant/bar. After walking around you should treat yourself to a hot drink. The island is actually two islands connected by a very small bridge. There are no cars on the island so you walk or rent a bike at the port. The North island is much less crowded and more charming with sea views, very nice stone homes, and flowers everywhere. It is best to visit on a sunny day,(rare in Britttany, but possible) as you can enjoy every color much better in the sunshine. Allow 3-4 hours for a relaxing walk around the island. If needed there is a "petite train", a wagon pulled by a tractor if walking is too much. Expect windy cool weather almost for any time of your visit except mid summer. A very nice diversion day trip.
