We stayed there for three night as part of island expidition tour. I enjoy birding and took hundreds of great photographs. The early morning boat tour and the boat tour to lamanai were
Both interesting and fun. We could have skipped Altim ha As there was not much to see, and therefore not
Busy.
The food at birds eye was ok but
Not great. They were very busy, filled to capacity because there was a
Birding group tagging migratory birds. If you go find out when they are
Not so busy.
The staff were amazing, very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The rooms were ok but very dated.
I would go back
But not for three nights, just two would be enough

This lodge is located in the middle of a lagoon which is excellent habitat for many birds. The lodge itself is clean and well maintained. Like others, I really liked the addition of fresh flower petals in the room. The meals were great, and the informal atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. The staff were very helpful. Trips to see local ruins and temples were great. The boat tour of the lagoon was definitely one that birders would enjoy.

Room Tip: we liked our rooms on the second floor - great view over the large common balcony.

My wife and I visited Belize for the first time. We wanted to visit places that were in beautiful natural areas. But, we also wanted the comfort of safe and clean lodging. The Bird's Eye View Lodge was recommended to us. It is located on a large lake in the village of Crooked Tree. The area is a national preserve. It is only a one hour drive from Belize City airport. The driver from the lodge was waiting for us when we landed and provided us with an informative narrative as we drove to the lodge. We are not hard core birders. But, the exotic birds in the area are stunning. There are trails right from the lodge to go nature watching. There are also canoes available for guests. The lodge provides guides who can either take you out in group tours or create a custom experience for guests. We took a group tour on a boat around the lake. My wife counted 65 new species of birds she had never seen before. My favorite is the Jabaru stork...4 feet tall! We also saw crocodiles. We arranged a custom tour for the two of us with their incredible guide, Rudy, on our second day. He took us on a two hour ride to La Milpa where we hiked through Mayan ruins in the jungle. The food at the lodge is terrific. We were sometimes served fresh fish just caught from the lake. The hospitality of the entire staff is superb. Everyone has a smile and is dedicated to giving guests a fantastic experience. We will definitely stay at this lodge again when we return to Belize.

Room Tip: Request a guided day trip to La Milpa with guide, Rudy.

Rooms were clean and well kept. Food was extra but good. Staff set us up for the morning birding boat trip along the lagoon and river and we saw tons of birds of all types. Beer and dirnks were open to us at all times, just sign up for what ever you drank.

There is not much to do or see in Crooked Tree but the wonderful people and the birds. We took a drive around the village and people waved and talked to us, all very friendly.

We stayed here two nights as part of a package with Island Expeditions. The staff are wonderful, kind and accommodating. Room was immaculate and upon our arrival, there were fresh flowers scattered all over it - on towels on the beds, on the side tables, in the bathrooms - little fresh blossoms everywhere - I loved it! The two nights we stayed we were the only guests - but the next night they were going to be full (there are 20 rooms). Just be aware that this is in the middle of nowhere! If you are looking for nature - especially birds - it's just what you want. Early morning boat ride to look at birds is a must - it was amazing.

Lovely family owned/operated lodge with great staff - they can't do enough for you!!

The lodge is set in gorgeous grounds right on the lagoon. The variety of birdlife on offer is staggering!! Watching hummingbirds whilst having breakfast on the terrace is quite a treat!!

The rooms are a little dated in their decor, but immaculately clean, well-kept and perfectly adequate, with decent air con. The beds were very comfortable, large double and a large single in my room.

Food was superb, fresh and tasty - served with a smile. We were a group of 13, and all food was served hot and in a timely manner - yum!! Drinks are kept on a self-service tab, to pay at the end which was very convenient!

The sunrise birdwatching boat trip on the lagoon was nothing short of awe-inspiring! (it helped that we were there on Christmas Morning!!) Loads of birds, interesting new species, and no better way to see them than from the water - perfect.

Highly recommended for birdwatchers and people not so bird-brained for a peaceful retreat!!!

We stayed here for one night during our week in Belize and wished that we had stayed longer. It is truely a very tranquil and quiet place. I did the early morning boat cruise to spot birds with Leonard who was an excellent guide. There is a three course dinner available for 15 US dollars, as well as a large breakfast for 12 US dollars. The rooms are clean, and there is free internet available as well as wifi. Crooked Tree wildlife sanctuary is well worth a visit within Belize and I would highly recommend it if you like bird life and peace. There are nature trails you can walk alone. Compared to other places in Belize where tourists go this is definitely undervisited - so make a trip if you can! Thank you Verna for being so welcoming and a great hostess.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are cheaper than upstairs and you still have a great view of the lagoon.
