Looked forward to a weekday lunchtime meal to celebrate 27 years married as our reception was held at the Leicester Arms 27 years ago today. As we entered the bar the bar staff were leaving the bar area, but definitely were aware of our arrival. We waited in the bar area to get a drink and to ask for a menu and table. We waited, and waited and waited. Moved into the restaurant area and saw the same member of staff, restaurant looked very quiet. She did acknowledge us and said she would only be a moment. She was clearly covering the bar and restaurant. We took the decision that if this was the level of service we would not stay and voted with our feet. We moved on to another close by restaurant and mentioned our experience. We were told we were not the first people to mention the slow service. I think we will leave it another 27 years before we venture back.

Went here for Sunday lunch last week, our first visit since it reopened, and we were not overly impressed!

I had rib of beef Sunday roast, the beef was excellent but the roast potatoes were not cooked fresh - the obvious giveaway they were dry on the inside and soft on the outside, and the 'beef dripping, Yorkshire pudding was very over cooked. My wife enjoyed her lamb pie, said it was delicious!

Two desserts as we were still very hungry, and together with a pint of squash and a small glass of coke the bill came to £55. Overall an average meal, in a nice place that was ridiculously overpriced, not helped by the 12% service charge automatically added. Needless to say as there are so many nice country pubs within a few miles radius who's decor is on a par, who's food is better and who's prices are far more realistic we won't be returning again in a hurry!

Had a fabulous dinner here with my husband. The house white wine is excellent, and the food wonderful. The veggie meals are delicious, as are the steaks (according to my husband). The puddings are equally as good. So nice to find a pub/restaurant that looks good, you can comfortably have just a drink or have a really nice meal.

What a shame this lovely characterful pub is now so bland AND EXPENSIVE! If you don't mind paying almost double the price for the same food and fare less than 2 miles away - you won't be disappointed

Last night a friend and I enjoyed the six course dinner created by the four chefs of the Black Pig, George and Dragon, Leicester Arms and the Tunbridge Wells Hotel. The locally sourced ingredients and accompanying wines made for a fabulous evening. This was our first visit since the previously run down Inn has been refurbished and renovated- it won't be the last.

I was very impressed with slick operation under the watchful gaze of Melissa, the General Manager- not an easy task with a full restaurant, six courses with wine pairings and the boss entertaining his wine suppliers!

Previous reviewers have commented on over priced food- we enjoyed the whole experience for less than £50 per head- a bargain as far as I'm concerned! Looking forward to the next event.
